Fvck, Not what i wantee to hear

I injured my neck last spring pretty bad. I was in alot of pain and laid up for a while. Then after an epidural it felt ok started training again and then got in a car accident. So it started bothering me again.
I was kinda just dealing with it and was told a couple months ago to see a neuro surgeon. I finally went today. He said i should have came earlier. I need surgery ASAP. That my disc are so bad they are effecting my spinal cord. Awesome.
So they are trying to get 2 disc replacement approved. If the insurance wont approve to im getting 1 replacement and a 1 fused.

Always with my life everything goes great then crashes the other way, can never ever have a middle ground.

I can only speak from a lower back and disk aspect buddy but I would avoid a fusion if at all possible! It places a lot more pressure on the disk above and below the fusion!

    Best of luck buddy!

i dont know why but he said its hard sometimes to get health insurance to approve 2 replacement discs. But he was going to try to get 2 approved using my car and health insurance so there would be no fusion hopefully.

Sorry to hear. Good luck Gix. I had back surgery and it took a little while to recover, but so glad I did have surgery.

Thanks guys., Honestly i figured he was going to recommend surgery, but i thought it was going to be a thing i could do when ever i wanted. If i could deal with it and wait a year i could. Not you should have had this done already you need it now kind of thing. That freaked me more. I'm sure all will be good after. More worried about being out of work.

Hopefully i can get back to training hard quick now. I've been going lighter on the weights for a while and just hitting the bags

Gixx if your surgeon contacts your insurance coverer, and stresses this double disk replacement as a medical necessity, they should cover it. It's pretty sad when our insurance carriers are now in the health care business deciding who can be covered and for what.

I would look into any other option then a disc replacement. Father in law had two done from car crash and has mobility now but chronic pain for life. He is on the heaviest meds around the clock.

Everything i hear replacement is better then fusion. Those are the only 2 options i know of
My cousin is a sports medicine director of a pretty good hospital and recommended this surgeon, And the surgeon does the football team for a large Florida university.

Sounds like your in good hands. I just know to seek all options before the knife. To many things can go wrong. this is your neck/spinal cord were talking about.

I just wonder how his stripping is doing these days. I think he was worried about getting a chubby and having to explain he was straight but got a woody from a gay boy if those boys got too close to his johnson when putting those dollars and change into his bikini g-string. It's hard to convince a crowd when your body betrays you in front of them. It's funny how your body can and does pop a woody even if you aren't thinking of sex. that used to happen to me a lot in high school and it scared the fvck out of me when having to shower with the gym class. Fortunately I think my fear of it kept me from popping one. But being a gay stripper and knowing your turning on all those patrons you can get into it easily and bada bing bada boom you've got wood! But seriously guys I'm not gay. I don't know why my johnson popped up, as he trys to talk his way out of the situation as a wet spot forms on his g-string.

Surgery stinks but need to get healthy and address pain.

I saw your gay stripper in q&a section earlier this week. U may want to pm him or just tqke shov'la for care giver. Shov'la rates probably a little higher???

He's only gay for the money. For God's sake $21 a night is a lot of money. hahahaha

Good luck with the surgery. I trust you're going to look in to a second opinion before you let them hack away. And if something happens to you, Brah, I'll take care of your wife.

I agree with its difficult to find that balance of going threw the good times and the bad times. When all is good you come to a crashing bad and it hurts, i just want to be in neutral sounds alot easier.

Good luck to u though gixxer hope it all works out for u.

I've observed plenty of these spinal surgeries, and actually was witness to some of the first randomized clinical trials of the artificial intervertebral disc by Blackstone medical (its since changed names)....What is important to understand with a fusion, and when referring to a cervical fusion, known as an "anterior cervical dissection and fusion", the point is to not restore you to 100% as before, but simply to attenuate the effects that a herniated disc has on quality of life. So the true purpose of ACDF is to improve quality of life, make it so that you're not on pain management the rest of your life, etc, and so on. I would certainly opt for the replacement disc, there are also cases of failure to fuse.

I here you man.... when it rains it pours....

I also suffered from herniated disk since I was young, played inline hockey and destroyed my spine.

Around 5 years ago I got a herniated disk on my neck and brother i feel your agony... It HURTS!!!! Its not like any other hernia in the spine, the others you can deal with but not in the cervical. My hernia was so bad I got operated the day after a freaking christmas, nice holidays huh!

Well that tragic moment was finally over and when the doc gives you the thumbs up you hit that gym again....

One thing I do have to stress to you when you have neck survey is you have to be very careful with the way you lift... Proper form is KEY.

Last year I re injured my neck bending over pulling some tiles out of my car, did you hear that? not even lifting weights... Then I went to the gym the next day I was doing shoulders and grabbed a 45 a was doing some stupid exercise my trainer had me do. That was it... Out for 6months doing therapy and every freaking cortisone pills and shots.

Im glad to say I didn't have to operate it again but now Im very very careful with the things I lift now, mostly important lifting over your head like military press. Im not saying life is over but take care of your shit now, get over it and train smart so you dont re injure yourself.

I wish you the best and a fast recovery!

    Mister D

Well you could always say you don't want to make your wife feel unimportant but you'd love to visit her (your mom) while you're off
