N.Korea to carry out Nuclear test 'towards' America
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...e-says-US.html
Been all over the news today here and im surprised this hasn't had more attention here.
We all know they don't have a missile that can reach America, and I think they are still struggling with attaching nuke devices, but the fact they are suggesting they are going to fire it in the general direction of America sounds blatantly like an act of war.
What a total pissant of a joke of a tyrant. The world must have been completely naive to believe this guy would be different from his crack pot "immortal" father. It does make me wonder if something will need to be done here soon. If I was S.Korea or Japan, i'd just about be shitting myself knowing someone as unstable as them were my neighbour.
Oh and he's just had plastic surgery to resemble his Grand Father.

A threat to America, is any legitimate act or plan for aggression which would directly threaten the national security of the United States homeland. Ergo, if fatty wants to launch a piece of shit missile with what probably amounts to a dirty bomb into the sea, and it so happens to be pointed in the general direction of the United States, yet falls 8 or 9,000 miles short, he's really not bothering me....I'll be concerned when they can actually put some guidance on these piece of shit rockets, and when they can reach out farther than a few hundred miles, AND when they can actually accept a payload of reasonable capacity. I honestly think the people at news papers just run out of shit to write about, N.Korea is a f**king joke, they cant even feed half of their country, but we're worried about them invading S.Korea or decimating the US homeland?

Also, its important to understand the "Juche" philosophy of the North Koreans, which literally translated means self-reliance. They regard our interference into their affairs in the early 1950's with a lot of contempt. We botched that war ourselves by going all the way to the Chinese border, when our orders were specifically to stop at a certain canal (the name of which escapes me right now), because it drew China into the war, exactly what we feared it would do. So, at one time, we did occupy the entire North Korean homeland, they do have somewhat of a case for hating us. And I'd be remiss if I didnt mention that perhaps their fears of a pre-emptive US/S.Korean strike are not all that far fetched given our most recent penchants for pre-emptive warfare. With that being said, I by no means think that N.Korea is anything close to a rational actor, and they should be regarded with a lot of caution, but I think that making a big deal out of their weapons testing and trying to scare the American&Western populace would be doing exactly what they intend these "tests" to do.

I don't pay much attention to foreign affairs, regrettably, so these are issues I cannot offer much input and instead, sit back and consume the knowledge of members such as yourself. Out of curiosity, how much support (and in what form) would N. Korea receive from China for development of its "defense" programs as it chooses to define these tests.
Much respect,

Yeah I know all that, but the reason they dont feed half their population is because they put most of their money into the Military Machine running the place. When the West has 100% anti nuke defence shields, something capable of vapourising a nuke out the air without it detonating, i'll feel a bit more comfortable.
The intent is there, the capability isn't but they are clearly unstable, and unstable and nuclear shouldn't belong in the same sentence. You cant debate with a regime that kidnaps random members of the population to 'star as actors' in movies.

Usually I look at these things pragmatically, and I would normally see just another little tin God, barking at the moon. Sometimes I think "okay, Western foreign policy isn't the greatest, sometimes we deserve the ire of foreign nationals" but lately im just getting sick to death of hearing about these fvcking places wanting to obliterate us. There is always someone or someones that wants nothing but the West and Western ideologies gone, and it depresses me. Really dont want to sound like a hippy but cant we all just get along. All I ever seem to read about is humans being corrupt, violent or just generally shitty to each other.

The first sign of a WMD headed towards the US and that piece of shit country will be wiped out from the face of this earth. They're like one of those little yappy dogs all bark and no bite when a German Shepherd could wipe them out in a split second.

What really scares me isn't N Korea or any of the other countries that hate us, I'm scared of the people/politicians we have in charge of dealing with these countries, just look at the douche nuggets that run this country and handle foreign affairs and I'm not talking about THIS administration only, throughout history we've had some good leaders but in the last few decades we make some shitty decisions and either pander to them or invade them, what if we just had a no bullshit policy for everyone and stuck too it? I miss Ronny and his don't **** with us attitude..... Rant over.

They almost do have the capabilities of launching a nuke towards America. They built a rocket that had a successful distance of up to 10,000 miles. Not only that but they strapped a satellite to this same rocket (400-500 Lbs) and successfully launched their first satellite in to orbit. You can read about it on CNN.com. This is not meant to be taken lightly, they are flexing their military muscle and those damn N. Koreans are crazy enough to launch a rocket at the US. But the US does have weapons systems in place that could take out a rocket fired at us in no time, but the global impact of N. Korea launching a WMD towards the USA would be bad. Mostly because N. Korea, believe it or not does have powerful allies.

They may have the capability to make a rocket go 10,100 miles and put a satellite into some sort of orbit ( but not with any degree of precision or accuracy), yet they lack the capability to make said rocket hit a target even remotely in the area they wish it to go. You can think of N.Korea's missile program as very similar to the V1/V2 program of Nazi Germany. They could accelerate these rockets to Mach 3, and put a decent payload on them, but all they could really do is aim them in the direction of London and hope a few found their mark. The N.Koreans face that problem on a scale exponentially greater then the Germans, as they have to guide a missile out of the atmosphere, send it 8-10,000 miles, then have it re-enter the atmosphere, and then have whatever payload is on board, strike a target. The fact is, they haven't the capability to target the US, and if they do, its simply in the direction of the US, not anywhere specific. Additionally, they lack the ability to make a nuclear device which can fit onto their rocket which works 1/3 of the time, and even if they can make a nuclear device small enough to fit onto their shitty pseudo-guided rocket, it's yield would not be 50 megatons, probably more like 1 megaton, enough to do significant damage no doubt, but they would have to have a ton of things go right for them, all at once, in order to even threaten us, and thats with ONE rocket. We have thousands of ICBMs, many on launch-ready-alert. The N.Koreans posturing has almost exclusively been used in the past in order to get food aid and other international aid for their peoples, I have a feeling that this is no different.
Additionally, people think that its quite easy for Kim Jung Donut to just up and change every policy in N.Korea at his behest. However, there are institutions in his country that are 60 years old, entrenched institutions that would be very unlikely to dissolve themselves at the behest of one man, even though he's the "supreme leader" or whatever shitty title they've given him. Think about it this way, the President has the ability to issue Executive Orders, but if tomorrow he were to declare free&fair elections over, there would likely be institutions within the US government which would arrest him, most likely via impeachment by Congress. Likewise, I am sure there are institutions in N.Korea, that if tomorrow Kim Jung Fatty decided to call for free&fair elections, would have him hanging from the gallos by the end of the day. It is very hard to change entrenched systems without a revolution of some sort, he is ONE MAN, and while we think he is all powerful over his people and military leaders, that power is tenuous, and depends on him saying & doing the right things according to the status quo. That's my personal opinion and assessment of what he would be facing if he did indeed have any desires for Westernization of his country.

Well put GF. If it was anything serious at all, I assure you, I would be in full battle rattle right now haha.
This is probably more of a response to the US being allowed to bring more missiles into Korea. They're not going to do anything, they have supplies to last 2 weeks and intel shows that the majority of their force (everyone not SOF) would likely give up within 3 days of a conflict with Korea/US.
