At the movies with the MAGICMAN...

    A Haunted House R, 1 hour 35 minutes
Even if you love spoofs this one is barely decent.

    Argo R, 2 hours 0 minutes
Slow, very developmental, and outright boring at times, but conceptually a decent film.

    Broken City R, 1 hour 49 minutes
Basic Mark Walhberg action film, with a basic plot, basic lines, and basic action, i.e. Contraband
BUUUUUT...Mark's got one coming out with Anthony Mackie and the Rock that's anything but basic, and centered around the gym called Pain and Gain:
    http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/pain-and-gain/

    Django Unchained R, 2 hours 45 minutes
A true Quentin, who picked up about 50 lbs, Terrentino film - with trademarked off beat music and blood bath included. Great performances by Foxx, DiCaprio (I really didn't know he was that talented), and of course Samuel Jackson. If you like QT films DON'T MISS THIS ONE!

    Gangster Squad R, 1 hour 53 minutes
Solid throughout, didn't quite meet full expectations (mine or the box office's), but will be a new TNT Classic, movie for guys who like movies. Outstanding performance by Penn.

    Jack Reacher PG-13, 2 hours 10 minutes
A solid Cruise performance with a very lackluster script, borderline boring, I'm surprised he took this gig.

    Les Miserables PG-13, 2 hours 32 minutes
Great reviews! Seeing the extended trailer nearly 10x was enough for me though...Pass. I can't stomach watching both Russell Crowe and Hugh Grant psuedo-sing.

Life of Pi 3D PG, 2 hours 6 minutes
Real men don't see movies like this without coercion.

    Lincoln PG-13, 2 hours 30 minutes
Great cast, solid performances, a good bet if you're a history buff, but it almost fits in the above category. I caught the first 50 mins while awaiting the start of my second movie...gotta love the multiplex!

    Mama PG-13, 1 hour 40 minutes
Great for a PG-13, not as good as the trailer led me to believe, but solid with decent FX and a couple of twists.

Parental Guidance PG, 1 hour 36 minutes
Geriatrically funny, but will catch you off guard and a couple of times. I saw it during the movie drought last month with my girl, and although it targets the young and old demographics, especially grandparents and grandkids, it's not bad.

Silver Linings Playbook R, 2 hours 2 minutes
I had great interest in this film even before the nomination. I wanted to see the chemistry (or lack there of) between Bradley and Jennifer. It's an offbeat, yet very interesting film which also features De Niro and the return (albeit slight) of Chris Tucker. A solid film.

    Texas Chainsaw 3D R, 1 hour 32 minutes
    Pass, let it go already.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey PG-13, 2 hours 46 minutes
A fully expanded version of the first hour in Lord of the Rings (most of Bilbo's tale) complete with much of the same cast. FX were a let down, and it spent a lot of time in storytelling mode, as per the novel. If you saw the trilogy...Pass.

    The Impossible PG-13, 1 hour 54 minutes
This is the sleeper of the group and a true story to boot. A well told, good FX, extremely well-acted (Ethan Hawk and Naomi Watts) movie. This is a complete film. Take your girl, or see it with one of the fellas. Exceptional! Garners my 100% money back guarantee, if you're not completely satisfied post your tickets and, and, and, concesssions receipt and I'll refund it. Yeah, it's that good!

The Last Stand R, 1 hour 47 minutes
The Governator delivers! Forget that this movie unveils a supped up ZR1 corvette with extreme stunt driving, forget that Johnny Knoxville cracks everyone up, and forget that Forest Whitaker lends instant credibility...Arnold is great, that's right great as the Sheriff. Okay, there are a couple of corny one liners, but even they fit well, and yes he does a short sprint at a speed that even one of Deputy Droopalong's bullets should have caught him, but the villains are ruthless (completely without ruth) and the eye candy is very nice. New TNT Classic.

    This Is 40 R, 2 hours 13 minutes
Wow, this movie is seriously schizophrenically troubled, it bills itself as comedy (and there is humor), but it also tries to be real, and dramatic...a trifecta few films have actually pulled this off. Not very believable, for example the mom should have been less hot (Leslie Mann), and sloppier if her role is to complain about aging and dread turning 40. That's difficult while looking like a stunning 29 and half year old. But yes, Megan Fox, I'm not even going to comment...none required.

Zero Dark Thirty R, 2 hours 37 minutes
A very interesting depiction. This movie engages you throughout, with solid action, interrogations, and intensity. Not only would both Ebert and Siskel have given it two thumbs up, so does yours truly, and I was the guy when the trailer first ran saying, "Not more Osama!" P.S. It's not for those who don't care for espionage, like the couple I had to check for yapping one row ahead that actually left 40 mins in.

No racist. But the wife and I went to see Django on Saturday. And it was not a very good movie experince. Loved the movie, but all the"Yeah kill that white mother****er" coming from the crowd was a bit distracting. Probably wont go see another movie at the theaters again. People just do not know how to act anymore.

Many people forgo the theater for that very reason. I try to go at off peak hours to avoid as much audience scripting as possible, and this holds thrice as true for an already controversial movie like Django. Sorry your experience was ruined.

By all means do so, I've never been much of slasher film guy, and that goes double for remakes, but to each his own. I'd like to hear what you think of it.
