    West coast bike trip

Im planning out a 10 day bike ('94 fully dressed electra glide) trip from june 7th - 16th. Ill be leaving Vancouver with my gf on the back from Vancouver, BC and plan on taking the oregan coast highway down to LA then coming back up through Vegas then home. We wanted to spend 2 nights in vegas and the rest is in the air. Where are some good places to stop on the drive down? What are some things worth seeing (we've never been down that way before)? Good beaches? We were thinking of hitting vegas for the 12 (night) - 13 and spend the 14, 15, 16 riding home. So that leaves us with the 7 - 12 to check out the west coast. We were hoping to camp alot too so if anyone has any places to recommend too thatd be great.

Astoria Oregon is a cool place. They filmed the goonies, kindergarten cop, and a few other movies there! Newport Oregon is pretty cool too. There's 2 lighthouses and they are both pretty cool. Awesome bayside area with some great seafood and rogue brewery( great beer). There's also a pretty sweet area down there where sea lions hang out. They are always fun to watch.

I have no info to add as I'm on the east coast, but I'm just jealous of the ride. If you were on the east coast I'd meet ya and "Glide" on in.

Fort Bragg on Cali coast, it has glass beach, a brewery. Then you can hit the Avenue of Giants, which is the redwood forest, GREAT riding, cool 35 mph cruising with great scenery and stops. Road it before and will hit it again. Watch out for hwy 1 or 101, (still do some) it has some great views but it winds so much I was exhausted after an hour & 1/2.

Agree, all of that area is really cool. OP, continue south and you will pass through the Redwood National Forrest. You can continue south and see the Napa Valley, San Francisco, and further south to Pebble Beach, Big Sur, Malibu, and into LA from there.

    Ride safe!

if you had asked a couple of years ago, I could have said "Rookies" sports bar. back then, you walk in, and the first thing you see is a big boxing ring in the middle. Friday/Saturday night is open challange night. We could have gotten in the ring and I'd let you take a couple of cracks at this old man! =)

but they took the ring out three or four years ago, unfortunately.

I will ride my bike down there in the next couple weeks. Road bike. Pedal bike. I take the bike trail down there so might as well stop in.

Your right, that is the one. You cant even see it from most of the popular land marks. I almost destroyed one of my skis on the shore/rocks near there.

As everyone is saying especially along the coast there are tons of little towns and places to stop. Ill bet you wish you had at least another week added onto your trip.

Are you planning on going through Tahoe on your way to Vegas? That is a very nice area to visit.

If you hit LA on a Sunday you should go to the Rock Store off Mulholland at noon. You'll see some of the coolest rides on the planet.
