when you are dieting / on cycle?
Both personally and professionally there are so many invites to go out to eat, or to go for a drink. How do you guys deal? Politely decline? Go and stick to your diet? Break your diet?

Unless you have a competition coming up one drink or two and a fairly descent meal are not going to be the end if you. Life's to short not to be able to enjoy. Especially if you have been good. A treat is a good thing.Quote:

As far as work on cycle: I stop and take a very long pause, before responding to any stressfull situation whenever possible. I have had to catch myself, or just walk away from an employee...............
Whats up girl? Got a hot date tonight?
As I've gotten older I'm much more selective for social events. I get tired of the two steps forward, one step back routine. Unless its a special occasion, I avoid the routine social outings with friends and family. They are usually just an excuse to eat, drink, and yuck it up. Which is fun...and why I used to be fat!
Not to hijack...but going out on the town and not drinking is quite an experience! Its funny to watch your normal friends slowly become dousche bags as they get more and buzzed! And realize that used to be me lol
I have no desire to compete, so I have a cheat day and may go out for a mostly clean meal once a week. I plan for those, so it's the random 'let's to go to lunch', or 'let's go for a drink' that throws me off. I like your thinking though!!
That's what I do at work too. Or I actually 'gggrrrrr'... and make a funny face. I work with mostly men so they just laugh and it kind of calms the situation down.
No hot date here!
Just be smart about it and don't over do it. I'm not in GREAT shape but I enjoy a few beers or Chopin a week and don't beat myself up. Fun. Is ok.
Do you avoid/decline the invite with a reason? Do you say that it's because of your goals, make another excuse, or no excuse at all?
I get a good laugh when I do go. People start to get louder, their filter disappears and all of sudden they know how to dance. Of course I have been there myself :)

I work with mostly guys also and most go out ED for lunch and not the healthiest places. They invite me too, but I mostly decline and eat tuna fish with my salad. They understand so its not awkward to decline. Occasionally I will join them and then it is a cheat meal for the week.
Now the dang candy jar a few doors down is a PITA. The only reason the gal has it is cuz no one would visit her otherwise. She is not into nutrition or working out and she looks it. I hate that candy jar!
I have no friends so never get asked out anywhere. Makes it easy to stick to a plan :(
Hey buddy let's go have a pint.Quote:

Talked to milky yesterday about the beard. I don't smoke pipes or wear jackets with patches on the elbows. I have glanced at younger ladies from time to time. But not in a creepy way.Quote:

Well...maybe Twitz will go with me for wings and beer while you 2 re-enact Broke Back Mountain!
Is this where the announcer says switch partners?Quote:

I have never seen a mountain or a tree. My plastic bubble is the only place I know.Quote:

We've got Moutains, deep bush, and farm Country here. They can do the re-enactment and we'll have wings & beer :)
Decline. If they are friends then they will support u and ur lifestyle and won't give u crap about it. I don't have a social circle because of this. This is more important to me then 'going out'. Matter o priorities I guessQuote:

In all seriousness....I take the HAW out for dinner once a week. I usually stick to chicken, beef, or fish. Grilled veggies or garden salad. No boozing. HAW stuffs herself full and can usually put back a few glasses of wine. At 110lbs it doesn't take long to fill her up and make her tipsy. She usually tries to convince me to order dessert but I rarely cave - especially when cutting.
Welcome to MY world!
I have developed a mantra, and it sounds like this....
"I don't eat that"
Many question it, and will ask why, "it tastes sooo good".
so I repeat my mantra....
"I don't eat that"
People that know me will get tired of askingand let it go. In professional circles, I skip the mantra and explain very carefully that i don't eat processed food, simple carbs, or things I cannot identify by looking at it. Which will usually start a conversation and I will be asked a variety of related questions.
It's a mindset and a discipline.
not for everyone, that's for sure
quick hijack for a funny story.
my buddy got a new to him boat three years ago. went up to lake don pedro, and it was a "larger" boat. so anyways, his wife is driving, hauling ass, and I wink at my buddy, then jump off the boat going full speed (almost). Obviously, panic ensues. His wife is going freaking nuts, telling me not to do that again. So we are cruising again, hauling ass, so I wink at my buddy and once again i'm overboard. Talk about a rush! I do this 5 or six more times.
If you have never done this, you should try it if you like adrenaline rushes. Remember to tuck into a cannon ball, and be facing the back of the boat when you hit, and then you will be g2g.
For me,
sleep, eat, gym, sex with myself ,eat, sex with myself, eat sleep, gym sex with myself, eat, sleep :-( and over and over again...crazy mike
