Just got the Microsoft Surface Pro today!!! Amazing tablet!

Not sure what else to say, really... it is incredible, I am loving this thing! Posting from it right now. Got the cool keyboard with it too.

Only thing I am not enjoying about Windows 8 though is they removed the start menu. What asshole at Microsoft thought it would be a good idea to do that???

Widows8 sucks!!!!! App based BS. It's like the programs are all running in the background! I ahve heard alot of complaints!

Nope, the Surface Pro uses a full-out Windows 8 operating system. This thing is like a full on PC / laptop with full capability, programs, and everything you'd be able to do on a PC. It is so convenient and versatile.

I meant 8 works like apps on a phone! Biggest complaint from many teachers in our area... it locks up alot and you have to reboot!

So far I am enjoying it. Only complaint thus far as I said is they removed the start menu. We'll see how I like it as I use it more.

I went in to a local best buy and they had just got it that day and demoed me it. Fvcking thing froze in the middle of the demo. I went with an iPad instead.

lol, teachers. everyone complains about new things because they have to LEARN it. so go figure teachers would be complaining. i don't use any of the included apps so they stay off and out of my way....

as for the start menu, once you learn to navigate win. 8 you'll see no need for the start menu.

i have win 8 setup to be/look/work just like xp/vista/7 so no probs here. the updated task manager alone was worth the $30 i paid for win8. (the upgrade was cheap, so i bought 4 keys and use them to do full clean installs.)

haven't had one lockup/freeze/bsod. but then, in 30+ years i've never seen a computer that didn't lock up occasionally.

You're right, i'm starting to get the hang of it. I like how there is the standard windows interface and layout that you can always go back to in addition to the new windows 8 interface, and you can switch inbetween them.

I don't understand why so many people hate on Microsoft. They have the most adaptable and user-friendly platforms. Yes, they are large targets fo viruses, spyware, malware, etc. but this is to be expected when Windows is the most widely used OS. Yes, windows has issues with compatibility with various things, but that is also to be expected when the OS tries to be very versatile and adaptable to third party software and hardware that isn't strictly restricted to Microsoft.

Funny thing is my very first computing experience was on Apple computers, Macintoshes, etc. and when I switched to Windows I enjoyed it much more.

I'll held out til the new MS Surface was launched, as all my business related items are on the MS platform. I'm actually glad I did. The desktop area is basically just like my other computers, and the Asus keyboard was an excellent addition to it. For presentation features, it's really been an excellent tool, and I can just easily transfer files (Excel, Word, PP, PDF's, etc.) via USB drive. And yeah, once you get used to the layout, it's pretty easy to use and get around with.

Since early November, I've probably had 3 freezes. I don't feel that's bad at all, with all things considered, but some may think any freezing isn't acceptable. The battery life is quite incredible on it as well. I'd say it's definitely worth looking at for those looking at a tablet, and definitely worth exploring if you're needing one for business purposes.

Windows 8 sucks on a desktop because it wasn't meant for desktops. It was meant for tablets so I am sure on his device its better.

I agree with everything. This thing has made my life so much easier and more efficient.

No longer am I hauling multiple huge ass textbooks around for school. All I carry around is my tablet now.

I also want to add that the pen/stylus is an INCREDIBLE ADDITION!!! I can actually handwrite things perfectly (notes, articles, EVEN math problems and math formulas). No more messy erasers, pencils, and paper when I need to do math. I am constantly amazed with this thing.

Atomini, I haven't tried the pen/stylus action for writing notes or anything, but will integrate that into my program as this continues.

Again, for business, it seems very versatile. The keyboard and desktop feature give almost a mirror image of my other laptop, which runs Vista, and having all the MS programs with it just makes it quite convenient. I'm sure MS has a long way to go to catch up with Apple on the applications, and if it were just a tablet for playing around, IPad or something else may have been a better choice. And yeah, I can only imagine how beneficial this would have been for school if they had existed then.

One feature that I haven't been able to get to work is the Remote Desktop for connecting to a server on a VPN. I've set it up on several of our systems, and for my guys in the field using XP and Vista, but can't get it to fire with MS8. It's not something I necessarily need on a day to day basis when out and about, but I'm sure it will come in handy at some point. Haven't dealt with it in awhile, so I'll go back through it thoroughly and see if I'm missing anything. BTW, very surprised how fast the CPU is with the Surface.

I have yet to try the remote desktop feature as well. In fact, there are so many great features and apps on this thing that I haven't had a chance to try them all out just yet. I love how you can keep it seamlessly in sync with your desktop PC and everything. Perfect for business and students.
