Its the same concept. Just put it back together in reverse. I use to think the same way because I was a back yard mechanic and was clueless about computers, until I got one and tore it apart. Same concept and it lead me into IT, A+, MCSE & CCNA.

And how do you work this one out , what a garage charges an hour isn't what the mechanic gets paid , plus half the population think they can fix there own car after reading same half ass car magazine and when they Fvck it up they cry the face off the mechanic when he gives them a price to fix it , if I could earn half what a dentist earns in a year I would be a happy bunny

My cars never see a shop(except a alignment or tires).

Mechanics get paid 1/3rd of shop rate on the flat rate hour.

It works into a 3 part equation, mechanic pay + all fees and costs = 33.3-% is what the shop makes.

Been looking into opening a independent shop a bit, just the start up costs are insane.

Samson mate I don't know we're you live but over here a mechanic doesn't get paid a third of what the garage charges I wish for example I did two brake over hauls on a couple of Roll Royce cars garage charged two thousand five hundred pounds per car my take home two hundred so I would love a third of this for sure
