Full fatigue and burn after seconds with 75% effort?

Hey guys haven't posted on here for a bit but I'm trying to figure out what is causing this and would like to get some opinions. I play basketball once a week and lift weights 3 times a week. (used to every day for years, but stopped and now 3 times a week. Am 31 now)

The problem is every time I do something that's even close to about 75-80% max effort. Almost insantly my muscle is about to fail and gets jello like and the burn is horrendous. It just doesn't make sense to me, I could train for months but anything close to a intense effort and about a few seconds in I am dead. I don't know if it's a central nervous system problem, a lactic acid problem, some type of medical issue I don't know about, age, etc. Already going to a doctor in 2 weeks to do an evaluation but I just wanted to get some ideas and opinions and hopefully that will help, much appreciated. I just know this isn't normal to the degree it happens.

Edit: This includes running. If I go at anything near 80% sprint levels for even 5 seconds same things happen and I'm done for that day.

It could just be that you're "new" again when it comes to working out your muscles from the break you took. In your head you go in there thinking about your old routine from years back and then you grab the dumbbells and your muscles are like . Start off slow.... really slow. If you took a year off you're a virgin again in the gym.

I have been working out again for 5 months now and in terms of strength and size I am close to my peak times so I know it's not a new thing or that my muscles aren't in shape.

Sorry but strength and muscle stamina are two completely different thing. A bodybuilder might look strong and powerful but ask him to run a football field and you'd be surprised how fast he fails.

I dunno.... I take a month off and I can definitely see that my strength has lowered even though physical size hasn't changed much when I go back to the gym. The older you get the harder it is to maintain the strength for some reason when you fall off the wagon. You can get a bunch of tests done but if I had to guess its just "old age" creeping up on you.

You can try different lifting techniques. If you explode up on the positive and go slow on the negative versus going slow the whole time you can do a lot more weight. I'm not sure one is better than the other for bodybuilding but I can tell you every powerlifter explodes up on the positive. This is the only way to begin moving serious weight.

I'd ask what chemicals are you using? Any cycles etc?

I get a little bit of what you are talking about when bloods thick and I need to donate. Also keeping up with dhea and pregnenolone and d3 keeps it away.

Not sure if mines the same but something to consider.

Edit; mine is more like stupid stuff causes a burn, like even reading etc, and I think donating blood helps it. The other is my muscles get super stiff so stretching something too fast hurts like bending over or straightening my arm, which I know this is just me trying to form a relationship between things from experience can be wrong, but is from test plus missing backfilling pathways. Also before I started taking these, squats above 6 reps while heavy caused severe tightening in upper back/neck
