Pah, it doesn't happen here for another 3 weeks. When it happens we just get to 'see' the rain for longer.

I thought daylight saving time was developed for farmers so they could work their fields later into the evening?

Apparently it was developed for a variety of reasons mostly revolving around outdoor actives. But Austin nailed it. "The modern idea of daylight saving was first proposed in 1895 by George Vernon Hudson [9] and it was first implemented during the First World War."

I cant believe some of you dont like the longer days! Do you guys not have any outdoor activities? It also helps with gardening. This was one of the benefits that started it anyways. Here in Georgia, the days can get over 100 degrees and with the humidity, whew! Sucks. I like to do all of my gardening after 7pm when it gets cooler. Plus it puts less stress on my veggies.

OK I got a question for any of you more mature (code word for old guys) about what you remember as a kid. I still remember when it was light out at 11pm at night during the summer and yes we had daylight savings time. Not anymore.
Also I remember looking out of our kitchen window as the sun would come up over the mountains but now during the same time of the year it seems to be shifted quite a bit to the south compared to what it use to be.
My wife says the same thing that when she was a kid how it always came up over one certain mountain but over the years it shifted quite a bit and now no matter what time of the year it does not rise in the same spot.
Is the axis of the earth shifting slowly and THEY aren't telling us or wanting us to realize it until it does it's little flip and wipes out 80% of us if not more??? Just a theory.

Funny lovbyts
I dont ever recall light til 2300.. Im 38 yrs old and its always been 2045-2100 getting dark at the peak (summer solstice). I do think part of this depends on ur location on the planet as well. Im in southeast us (georgia).. I also am not concerned about any planetary malfunction ending our existence.. Because of my faith the whole planet slipping on its skin thing is irrelevant to me as i believe in a young earth. interesting observations u make though.
