    Guns are cool chocolate bad

So i just found out that the old time childrens classic kinder surprise is ileagal in the USA. Does anyone else think this is madness? Ar 15 is ok colt 45 no worries conseled weapon no dramas but a chocolate ilegal? Haha seems crazy to me. Is that not against one of your rights or armendments?

This is the info i found.

The 1938 Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act contains a section highlighting that a confectionery product with a non-nutritive object, partially or totally imbedded within it, cannot be sold within the United States, unless the FDA issues a regulation that the non-nutritive object has functional value.[11] Essentially, the 1938 Act bans “the sale of any candy that has imbedded in it a toy or trinket.”[12]

In 2012 the FDA re-issued their import alert stating “The imbedded non-nutritive objects in these confectionery products may pose a public health risk as the consumer may unknowingly choke on the object.”[13]

Pop Tarts are for the most part, banned in the UK.

Health and Safety, no retail or food outlet wants to be sued and at some point, some dickhead has sued someone over their dumbass kid eating a toy out of a Kindersurprise. Its the same reason why fresh products have short life spans printed on the packet, even though they are usually good for 2 days beyond the "eat by" date.

since most parents don't give a sh1t about thhier kids diets at home
(proof: look at all the obese kids walking around in walmart)

then our socialistic society has decided that they at least need to eat "cleanly" while at school.

it actually makes sense to me.

i wouldn't want a vending machine selling candy to the kids on school grounds. wouuld you?

I say let a kid be a kid to an extent. Maybe vending machines are no good, but my kids aren't allowed to bring anything with peanuts, nuts, eggs, or even chocolate! My kids eat healthy and are not over weight by any stretch of the imagination- however I do enjoy treating them to the odd snack-pack or dunkaroo. Peanut butter is pretty good as well and cost effective when feeding 3 little rugrats. Instead I'm forced to serve them lunches filled with sodium and nitrate riddled deli meats, or other like products. How is that any more healthy?

If you pack their lunch, you can provide what ever you like.

Unless you have lunch bag nazi's roaming the school grounds?

There was a story recently where a couple where held up at the US/Canadian border for several hours and threatened with jail time for buying some of these chocolates with toys in them and bringing them home. They had no clue about the ban and when asked if they had bought anything they said yes and named a couple of items including the candy. Buzzers when off, guards surrounded the car with guns drawn (exaggeration) but yes there were detained and eventually let go, WITH the candy. lol

SEATTLE (AP) — Two Seattle men say they spent more than two hours in a detention center at the Canadian border after U.S. border agents discovered illegal chocolate eggs in their car.
Brandon Loo and Christopher Sweeney told KOMO-TV (http://is.gd/usuy85 ) they decided to bring home some treats for friends and family during a recent trip to Vancouver, British Columbia. They bought Kinder Eggs — chocolate eggs with a toy inside.
The two men say border guards searched their car and said the eggs are illegal in the United States because young children could choke on the small plastic toys. Importing them can lead to a potentially hefty fine.
Sweeney says the bust was a waste of his time and the agents' time. The men eventually got off with a warning.
A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman declined to comment about the case Tuesday night.
The agency warned on its website around Easter that the treats can't be imported legally.
The agency says it seized more than 60,000 Kinder Eggs from travelers' baggage and international mail shipments in fiscal 2011.
