Sleep apnea? I've done it twice. You won't sleep well wires all over your head and chest. With a thick gunky glue holding them in your hair to your head. Enjoy. Infa red camera watching you all night. Don't start rubbing it.
Yea sucks...done it twice also
Sounds like fun. I go in next month for one
I was going to go myself because my snoring has gotten out of control in the past year, and i wake up choking about once a month.
Since I started going to chiro I have stopped snoring. Is that possible?
it's not well understood how some get it and others seem immune from it.
some triggers are:
drinking
age
overweight
there are two types
1) an actual blockage
2) your brain perceives there is a blockage when really there isn't
@1 is the most common, i think over 95%
my doc called me, as i turned down the first sleep study, and he explained to me that in a single one hour period, i stopped breathing 43x.
no wonder why i feel freaking tired all the time
Your tongue blocks your throat so your unable to get air, also they say if you have broad shoulders. They also said if your overweight.. Your jawOriginally Posted by ElectraMaddox

93?
my doc said mine was sever with only 43
shortly after coming back from afghanistan, i was napping on the couch in the middle of the day. my kids panicked because they heard me stop breathing, and then didn't breath for about a minute. then i fought/scrambled to catch my next breath. they thought i was suffocating!
OK. I'm outta here.
Everyone have a nice and hopefully peaceful evening.

Another reason is late eating, especially high carb or salty foods. Try not to consume anything at least 2 hours before bed, if not longer and see if it makes a difference
I am currently a sleep apenea patient diagnosed with it this year! They reckon patients in the older years like 40+ ony get it im 25, i prob gotta deal with this for the rest of my life now
Been there, and done the sleep test. As a phew have pointed out, expect to be wired up like your a mad scientist and your his guiny pig research, its is hell uncomforable. I wont lie though it took me 2 attempts to get my results the first night i couldnt sleep, than i thought to myself stuff this i will get myself some Xanax for this test, came back a second time and got the test done like a treat. Results came back, up to 40 seconds i was cutting my breathing out for, which i think was mild to moderate sleep apnea.
There is a thread that i made that could help with further research, revolving around this subject if you would like to look into it roman.
All i know is, i would never of known i had it, if it wasnt for my ex pointing it out. She couldnt even sleep with me i was that bad of a snorer! She used to record me and show me the morning after. When electra mentioned her ex had it makes me think, she prob left him cause he was a heavy snorer to :P ahah, but im guessing she would of had sleepless nights to without him, because eventually i had to go to the lounge cause she couldnt sleep with me. In all seriousness though it can play a toll on a realtionship, as i found out first hand. I now sleep with a mask and machine, and yet i deal with it and i still sleep, i look like bane from batman everytime i sleep. Truly defeaths the purpose of a comfortable good nights sleep, but its gotta be done
Good luck!

Many things can be the cause. Overweight, nasal passages blocked, throat passage or even overactive brain activities.
Good luck man. Sleep apnea is no joke![]()
Sleep apnea can affect anyone at any age, even children. Risk factors for sleep apnea include:
Being male
Being overweight
Being over age 40
Having a large neck size (17 inches or greater in men and 16 inches or greater in women)
Having large tonsils, a large tongue, or a small jaw bone
Having a family history of sleep apnea
Gastroesophageal reflux, or GERD
Nasal obstruction due to a deviated septum, allergies, or sinus problems
If left untreated, sleep apnea can result in a growing number of health problems, including:
High blood pressure
Stroke
Heart failure, irregular heart beats, and heart attacks
Diabetes
Depression
Worsening of ADHD
In addition, untreated sleep apnea may be responsible for poor performance in everyday activities, such as at work and school, motor vehicle crashes, and academic underachievement in children and adolescents.
This is an interesting thread

I feel you on that cape! Can i ask what the reasons are of why you cant use it anymore?
I use melatonin 1mg basically every night to sleep so i have adjusted quite well to it, still at the back of my mind i say to myself do i really have to be on this for the rest of my life? Im very self conscious about it as it is, and obviously if i find a partner that loves me for all my flaws it shouldnt be a problem, i will still find a way to make excuses for myself the hate i have for it.
I didn't realize how common sleep apnea is
dont' make me send Guido to come knock on your door again.....................
thanks mate!
MISERABLE!! ffirst, the weird dude sees my tatts and physique (i was wearing shorts and a wife beater), so of course the questions. are you a biker? do you work out? .....na, i ride a vespa and sit on the couch all day watching I love Lucy and eating potato chips.... then after that akwardness, he hooks me up wiith these 25 wires. down my legs. alll over my head and face. i'm surprised i didn't have one running up my anal groove. so anyways, he uses this slimy sticky gunk to attach the wires to my head and face. then he hooks up this monster mask and runs me through some tests... ok, blink ten times, now count to 3, blah blah blah.... now he tells me to relax and enjoy my rest!? (WTF!!) he claims i slept, so it must be true. but it feels like i did not. i'm sitting here, still sleepy, groggy, and grouchy. he said i should expect my machine in 4 weeks.
fuk that!! surgery??
Nearly 1 in every 25 men and 1 in every 40 women approximately, suffer from sleep apnea and often are asymptomatic.Originally Posted by ElectraMaddox

Had my second one last week. Wore a full face mask and woke up with the driest mouth ever. I think genetics has more to do with it than anything. The PA who first saw me was 30, 5'6" 120 lbs, and she has apnea as well. I've also talked to a lot of co worker who have it, most of them are younger and in decent shape. I'm sure though that being bigger doesn't help matters.
I had it done once and my numbers where very, very bad. my O2 lvs dropped into the 70's and I stopped breathing like ?a lot I don't remember, Iwoke up choking 20x.
I tried that special breathing mouth piece, relatively inexpensive, and it does provide some relief, but every time I wake up i have to hunt for the dam thing. Its usually under her or on the ground in the dogs bed lol
I snore so loud the women has to wear ear plugs! and I usually wake up with a headache..It usually feels like I'm up for weeks and the days just blur together.
same, my head is way too big for my body, when I played football in highschool I wore the same size helmets as the guys almost twice my weight and a lot taller.... actually, my upper body is built the same way... I think my girlfriend pointed out that for such a large torso, Im really not well developed below the waste... Whatever the hell that means![]()
IF YOU define "man" as male and 18+ then maybe. it really jumps when you define it as male and 40+. Had a meeting a few weeks ago, and almost every male in the room had it....
full face mask... piece of shit!!!
actually, he's selling girl scout cookies. a box costs $1,000, and it's "highly" encouraged you buy several....
ouch! talk about hitting below the bbelt.
