It's amazing some of the weird sh1t I think about moments before falling asleep at night. So last night was no different, and I began to ponder this:
We all know what a black hole is, right? Concentrations of regular matter so massive and dense that it's own weight exceeds the repelling ability of the strong nuclear force, creating a situation where a collapse takes place, resulting in a singularity. the size of the singularity is aproximately one Planck length, or equal to 1.616199(97)×10−35 metres. It is NOT "infinitely" small!
Ignore the idea for now that the idea of quark stars is building steam, requiring a new force we do not understand at the moment, so the the steps to becoming a black hole are thusly:
Stellar Mass (star)
nova
neutron star
quark star - ?
singularity
OK, i blew it.
I was going to say something about dark energy eminating from dark matter, but now that i've woke up, I remembered the two are independent of one another. the idea was to funnel massive amounts of dark matter into a black hole and see what happens, since, I was thinking, dark energy, being repulsive, would provide an interesting phenomenon.
I do know that the concepts of dark matter are pretty dicey (it began as a plug number to explain the rate of expansion and the ensuing gravitional effects we observe in the universe), and dark energy is even worse, as there is little evidence. In fact, the once powerful idea of the cosmological constant proposed by einstein, is now being resurrected to help explain this theory of dark energy.
Anyways, I'll try to come up with a better thought experiment next time.
