    The minds of children

So it's Easter and im spending time with family this weekend, namely some of my sisters kids.

Just been for a walk with them over the local woodland area and I had a very interesting conversation with the three eldest girls, Lauren (12), Chloe (11) and Amy (9).

The questions were along the questions of "how did we get here?" "how many stars are there?" and so on. I loved it, that at this age, they are beginning to question existence. The one that kicked it all off was Lauren telling me that in her RE (Religious Education) classes she is being told one way the earth was made but in her science classes, she is being told another. Obviously many of you know I will always favour the scientific version of things, but rather than impose my opinion, I simply asked her "which one do you believe is true" and she said "the science one". I asked why and I was surprised at the answers, like they said "well how come there are no dinosaurs in the Bible" and "well, how come we cant see God" and stuff like this. I found it amazing that girls, and yes girls, not boys, would be thinking about stuff like this and at their age. They then started asking me things about stars, where people came from, aliens and so forth. Amy the youngest one asked that if there was a God, why do we have so many wars. I found this particularly profound statement coming from a 9 year old girl.

Now I didn't create this thread as a "science is more believable than religion" statement, but more that I was actually blown away by the questions I've been asked for the last couple of hours.

I'm now going to try and find a cool Documentory on this kind of stuff for them to watch

It is amazing. The words that they use at a young age shocks me. Sometimes I wonder if they know the meaning of the ten cent word that just rolled out of there mouth.
I love the AT&T commercials with the guy having conversations at the table full of kids and all of their responses.

Seriously, kids are smart. Much smarter than we give them credit. What's funny is when I was their age I started questing Gods existence also but I grew up in a very religious home. I didn't know how to voice my opinion so I kept quiet and didn't say anything to my parents about why I chose not to go to church until I moved out the house. Now I only go on holidays with my family. It's not part of my daily life and my mom still has a hard time accepting it. I can imagine what my life would have been like it I opened my mouth when I was younger, she probably would've grounded me and put me in deliverance classes jk lol. Basically what I learned is to do exactly what you did when I have kids. Instead of voicing my opinion I'm going to make a diligent effort to ask questions and lots of them before judging or voicing my opinion on a situation. It's crazy how much life experiences shape us.

It doesnt matter how good looking she is, some where, some one is tired of her shit.

Light travels faster then sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
