    What does "being a man" means?

    I've been wondering during this years what does "being a man" mean?
    What does being a man mean to you?
    What are the qualities of a man?
    What a man should do in order to grow up and become mature?


    I couldn't find a similar thread so I open it. Just to hear you humble opinions.

    Having the fortitude to admit when one is wrong..
    Providing for ones family..
    Protecting ones friends..
    Having the courage to stand up for what is right, for good, and equally having the courage to denounce whats bad, and evil.


    What a man should do in order to grow up and become mature?

    Have strong role models, emulate them, figure out who he wants to be through a process of trial & error.

    To me a mature man is someone who takes decison for his life and his future, being able to care yourself regardless the circumstances, develop skills that allow you to be indipendent.

    The qualities a man should have are:
    *Confident, his hesitation comes from reflection not from fear
    *Trustworthiness and Integrity
    *A balance prospective, knowing that there is always another side
    *Leadership/Make decision
    *Needs nothing external to be happy
    *True and honest to yourself
    *Compassion for others
    *Umility

    In order to grow up a man should:
    *Accepting responsabilities for his future
    *Find a passion
    *Join a team where he can find more mature mentors

    I's surprised by some of the replies on this thread. I figured one would say being a man means leaving the toilet seat up, scratching your butt in public, farting whenever the need arises, belching at the dinner table, and leaving your zit juice on the mirror....
