I like how they've included pictures of Dwayne Johnson... sure he probably uses a lot of gear, but there are a lot of pictures of him training, he works for it.

I wish the government would NOT do that. These people/companies have as much right to make as many of their false claims as they want. If some people are dense enough to fall for them, that's their fault.

Haven't we had enough of this "government stepping in"? That is, after all, why anabolics are criminalized in the United States.

You don't think it should be illegal to intentionally deceive customers? I mean all of us here laugh at those types of ads, but there are people who are naive or don't know better that fall for it. There needs to be some assurance that we're not going to get swindled.

I agree with both Honkey and Atomini here. I think all these false claim adverts should be banned, how many hopeless saps have wasted money on 7-min abs, and supplements such as this? On the other hand, as Atomini says, if these saps are so foolish as to believe they can lose all their bodyfat, gain muscle and do zero exercise, then they deserve what they get. If the government step in, where does it stop? Many legit companies tend to over-sell their products all the way up to your whitening toothpastes. It could start the dominoes falling and who knows where that would stop.

I have to agree with Atomini on this one, Common sense ppl, 99.9 of someone selling anything on tv for enhancement is bogus....or for anything for that matter. Of course I don't like the lying and deceiving part of it, especially when ppl bite this is the "american way 99% of of sales is advertising/distortion of the truth.

Yeah, it seems foolish to us that somebody would spend money on that junk. But you have to understand that most people aren't well-informed. They're also stupid and lazy. And if it's okay to deceive these people in to dropping their cash for products that aren't going to do anything like what they claim, where do you draw the line? Is it okay for people to prey on the retarded? What about the elderly? Is it okay to scam them out of their savings on investments that you know wont work?

lol, probably not. I have heard some good things about the p90-x routine, which comes with a diet plan I think? If someone is naive enough to believe these miracle products that come out every other week they deserve to be screwed over. However, The FDA should regulate supplements. This would ensure that they are safe and contain the ingredients that their label states they do. There are lots of ingredients that help lose weight or build muscle that are backed by valid scientific evidence. Supplement manufactures know that this evidence is out there so they produce products that contain these ingredients. The problem is some of these supplements don’t contain the ingredients that they state or the amount they contain is so low that it can’t produce the effect that the studies stated it caused.

what what about the people that it does help???

after all it's a billion $$$$ industry, and tax is collected.. oh wait no it's not not on the web stuff..

And i don't want the GOV stepping in to protect me for my own good.. they already are doing that..

and if the GOv will allow what they are doing to our food source, this stuff is much better than any of what's going on .. so no thank you..

Didn't read through the entire advertisement posted originally but as for the example of "5-minute abs" most of those fitness products have a little disclaimer "with proper diet and exercise" if people are too stupid or lazy to understand what that means then let the fool and their money soon part.

Isn't that what most people on here feel about, about aas? Without proper diet and exercise aas is NOT the magic weight loss, grow big pill.

Guys... it is one thing for a supplement company to market a product and claim the following types of claims:

"Proven to cure cancer"

"Cures AIDS"

"Re-grows limbs"

It is another thing for a supplement company to make the claim:

"Gets you ripped and 20 lbs. of extra muscle in just 15 days"

The FDA would step in with the former claims and say "hey, unless you can definitively demonstrate those dubious claims of curing those debilitations, you're going to have to pull those claims from your product labels, or we'll pull your product from the shelves". False claims of being able to make you ripped and huge in record time is not something that is as negatively impacting as claims that it would cure cancer.

In any case, when it comes to marketing... the USA (and Canada where I live) are both countries that pride themselves on FREE MARKETS. That means I totally support a company making false claims of getting ripped and putting 20 lbs. of muscle on people in 15 days, and I totally support their right to make those claims EVEN THOUGH I DON'T LIKE IT. By absolutely NO MEANS should the government ever have the right to step in and say "remove your claims from the label or we're banning your product because of those claims". As people have already posted, where do we draw the line? How many claims about other things outside of health and fitness have been made by companies that are as equally as retarded? Teeth whiteners? Scratch remover wipe-on solutions for cars? As-seen-on-TV gimmicks that don't work as they advertise? Acne products that don't work as advertised? All of these companies are free to make their claims and make their sales pitches (and rightly so!). If someone is a stupid enough fool to believe them and buy into them, that's their fault. Those people are not being forced or pressured into buying these things.

I don't want the government "stepping in" to things any more. The government has "stepped in" to too many things 40+ years ago and it has only gotten worse year after year ever since. And this has transformed the population in the western world into this dumbed down stupid population unable to think critically that has been brainwashed into thinking that the government should "step in" and do everything for them, take care of them, make them a better person, etc. and as this attitude of "GET THE GOVERNMENT TO STEP IN!!!!" continues, the essence of personal responsibility will continue to dwindle until you live in a "father knows best" state where the government is making ALL the decisions for you.

Don't believe me? There are countries like that that currently exist. One of them is called North Korea, just do a youtube search on "inside North Korea", and see how fvcked up the people living there are. The government over there controls EVERY GOD DAMN ASPECT OF THEIR LIVES.

I agree whole heartedly... There needs to be more of an emphasis on consumer responsibility in the US. People need to do their research before they dive in and spend their money on supplements and other products. The information is readily available these days; the Internet provides an incredible amount of information. Google Scholar is a fantastic resource. If someone is dumb enough to spend their money on "steroid alternatives" on a whim then they get what they get.
