    MRI results are back :(

Week ago I felt my left arm go numb and my hand and risk started tingling. It wouldnt go away. Went to ER and did BW, EKG and CT. Everything good but CT showed some "dent" at the C5. (and my hemo was high lol).

Did MRI next day..results back today. Herniated (buldged) disk at the C5/C6 pressing on spinal chord pinching a nerve. Some spinal compression and scattered artheritas through my neck.

Now to schedule with my Neuro. UGGGGGGG!

No certianty of surgery. I will consult with Nuero and I"m sure he will suggest a round of epideral cortizone before considering surgery. I have worked with him before and trust him 100%.

OTC drugs off a minimum relief at least so I am hopeful we can get the herniation to go down without surgery.

    Thanks though man..

Sorry to hear that big guy. Hopefully you'll be able to get some relief without surgery.

One can only imagine how much more time you'd spend here if you couldn't work/workout.

Thats the fuked part TR. No trauma at all. Due to some other minor aches and pains I was taking some time off. Took a nap..got up, plopped my ass on the couch and 5 minutes later.....BAM!

I feel your pain lunk.I had never had back problems in my life and one day I leaned over to tie my shoes and when I stood up all hell broke loose in my lower back and leg. It turned out to be a ruptured disk.

Back and knees seem to be some of worst injuries for athletic ppl. Good luck and speedy recovery.

so it wasn't a single injury, but an accumulation of a series of micro injuries.....

.....I'd experience the "same" thing over ten years ago. Basically, i'd wake up with a "kink" in my back that progressively got worse as the day progressed. I'd make it to work, (desk job) and after a bit, i'd go to stand up. getting verticle was a challange, and could take as long as 30 seconds or more. I always assumed it was an alignment probblem, so imagine my frustration when my inversion table provided no relief. Many years go by, and FINALLY i get an XRay, and come to find out, i have three distinct problems, with only one I knew about. The arthritas was the worse.

The good news for me is that it's "just" pain. So I can work through it somewhat. Two alleve in the AM/PM totalling 4 per day has really helped.

All i can suggest is that there is something about your workout routines that has been slowly deteriorating your disc, and after you get this problem cured, you may want to do a rethink on what you do. Sounds onerous, but that's life. For me, I've modified my routines and my number #1 priority is "injury prevention". So i don't do the big compounds anymore (deads/squats).

Good luck Lunk, let me know how it goes with you

That's good news that it's not a ruptured disk. Now back to the same plan as before. Ice ice ice. Also don't sleep on a soft bed or even try the floor sometimes so the back does not become to relaxed.

If ice doesn't Work look into prednisone.

Sorry to hear about this, Buddy. And yeah, the worse part is that it just "hit" you. I've had this happen too and the "not knowing" is the worst.

    Keep us posted.
