    Gym addiction

Does anyone eles have what they might call and addiction to the gym? You might have this if when you post only about goin to the gym what you put up on the bench or squat that day and constantly talking about new workouts and supersets or new supplement .

for me, addiction isn't the right word. I call it "passion".

My son has it too, and we can sit there in the living room and gym talk for an hour, no problem........

I'm OCD about almost anything, but that's a general trait. I am totally OCD and addicted to the bodybuilding sport. Many years in he fog and time out of it was a tremendous set back. Now this is what I enjoy in life more than anything. Obsessed with getting big, I begin a new and revived journey , quest to getting back to where I was and then much, much more in my bodybuilding sport. It is more then a sport for me.....it is a way of life. ...crazy mike

While working in psych ward I actually took care of two individuals that suffered from training addiction. I don’t have an addiction I have a drive to improve myself. If you do have a training addiction you should seek medical assistance in helping you recover.

check out Training Addiction - AskMen to help determine if you have a real training addiction

Honestly...NO. There are a number of things in my life more important to me than the gym..so definetly not "addicted"!

Also obsessive like mike said earlier but my newborn son certainly reorganized my priorities. Luv this healthier way of life though!

No, I'm not sociable at the gym at all I get my workout in and go....some ppl spend hrs upon hrs there and feel they are some one important there..its their sanctuary or church if you will. To each his own.

What you're describing is just being a tool (i.e. someone who bores everyone around them by talking about working out/their new diet/their new supps). To make matters worse, these guys usually also look like crap and only train around spring break and summer.
IRL I keep that shit to myself.

A gym addiction would actually involve going to the gym and lifting compulsively to the point where you hurt yourself and neglect your loved ones and other responsibilities.

Addicted no. Passion like TR said yes, I might get grumpy if I miss a day or get irritable if I want to go but can't.

I guess after hearing all these ideas I will go with Passion. I don't take it all as I did with the other substances. And I am not physically addicted, that is very different. I don't put the gym before my family and other important needs like I did with the other that I've made reference. I do incessantly think about it. ....crazy mike

Should i not dislike the game player, but to the contrary, have contempt for the game being played?

Wasnt using addiction in a literal sense by the way just the way I like to put it but anyone who's serious about working out and dieting has had long talks about that topic and I never get bored of gym talk if that makes me a tool then so be it lol

I'm pretty sure most guys on these boards have an affinity for the gym....I mean....look where you're posting the question.

If you don't quite understand go to www.cupcakeforums.com and see if people there like cupcakes. Let us know what the verdict is.

It's fine if the other person cares about what you're saying. But that's usually an unsolicited one-sided conversation in my experience.

I've had way too many coworkers and acquaintances notice that I'm built, then try to relate to me by talking about their stupid Paleo diet, how much they can bench, or how many crunches they're doing to get ripped for spring break.

I use to in my late teens and early to mid 20s. I use to go 6 days a week, 2hrs a day. Then this thing called life happened and although I like going just as much I defiantly dont have the time like I use to. Only if I knew then what I know now about training and diet....
