Well I'm your someone..So here goes:
It all started way back when Obama wanted to rule the world and the only way he could do it was by eliminating all our weapons. But try as he might, it kept on backfiring on him and he never got any gun laws passed. So he thought one day while sleeping at the chair in the oval office, and it came to him. No not Bill Clintons Monica, but an idea to solve his gun issue in America. What was it? It was so simple and right before him but he never even thought about it till just about a year ago. If I can't eliminate those guns from those damn Republicans I'll go one better and eliminate the ammo. And so it was born a great idea out of the White House to slow down the production of ammunition to a crawl thereby making those Republicans so mad that they can't target practice nor even hunt, that maybe he thought they would just get so frustrated that they would just put those guns up and never use them again..

I still don't see were this should have a dramatic effect on .22 rounds out of everything.

By the way...AR rifles have come back down to near normal price in the last 2 weeks. Do NOT get taken.

Well the one that was 1200 had a few extras. I did see a stock for $1000.

There were a couple of M4's that were extra special @ 1750-2000. I almost pulled the trigger and bought one of these. They were full envolved with scopes, slings, lights, stocks.
    So pretty

One dealer was really pressing me hard to buy a .223 handgun. Think AR but a handgun, no stock. Couldnt really see the point, other than fun to shoot $850

But Lunk, it all has to do with .22 ammo, and all calibers. It just isnt available and when it is it is gone the same day.

I just went on a road trip the other night with a good friend who is one of the top gun retailers for this state. Last year he was the #3 sales for Sturm Ruger in the nation. He does pretty big numbers and is on the top ship to list for Davidson's. All of the major wholesalers have asked the manufactures what the deal is. Winchester, Remington..etc. Nobody has an answer. They all say they are manufacturing the same amount they always have....so where the fuk is it all going?

By the way. Rock River M4 elites are back down around $800 if that gives you an idea of the screwing some guys are still trying to accomplish

I think you het the nail on the head in this post. Demand has gone way up but manufacturers are producing the SAME supply, therefore making more money via mark up which does not have the overhead like production. This is a common practice in business, drive revenue via increased rate rather than selling increased supply because more $ goes to bottom line. Demand is up due to gun control hype. That's my theory anyway.

Im just guessing here but my opinion is that a high percentage of gun owners have a .22 caliber. Its the most common gun out. Whether it was a starter gun, plinker due to cost of ammo, hand me down, kid gun, wife gun etc . So with gun control hype people go to stock up, and a lot of those people have a .22 that they buy for as well as whatever else they own and shoot. Also lots of new consumers In the market. I know a guy that teaches ccw classes, and he says the classes are very busy, and female to male ratio is way up respectively. So new consumers in the market as well as existing consumers sales being up.

exactly .22 is the most common caliber weapon out there. They are inexpensive firearms to buy as well as the ammo, typically

And to reiterate DHS and the common citizen is stocking up. Just like my other thread about gold and silver. Ammo is a great commodity to have. Everyone is always gonna need bullets.
And are going to barter with them.

Ive been thinking about getting into reloading or finding someone local who does reloading and befriend them and buy form them. Probably better than doing it yourself now days. If you buy any quantities of powder or for any reason ever searched I'm sure you will be automatically put in the terrorist category.

I have been saying for years Obama is not going to directly go after guns/ at first but instead go after the ammo. I have posted it here several times over the last 5 years as my theory.

More people are killed with .22 caliber than any other in the world since it's the most common.

It's said it's good to have ammo especially .22 even if you dont own a gun because it's something you can still trade and will be of value if times ever get tough.

For squirrel either use a BB gun or a sling shot. Why waste a .22? I like my little dart blow gun also.

The shortage is caused because of panic buying and hoarding.

I haven't been able to get 9mm since January. Every time I go to by they are out of stock, unless I want HP or talons. Not for target practice at $25/box.

I like the do it yourself reloads concept. Obama is an asshole.

I agree. We have been reloading since I was a kid. It’s a good way to save money when you can’t buy rounds in bulk.

Dey tuk our guns!!! But in all seriousness, I'm keeping all the bricks of .22 and 40s that I've got. Only thing around me that there's plenty of is shotgun shells. Obama is the #1 gun salesman this year. As Lo as he says we can't have it more people will buy them lol
