    Because they are by their very definition (or an explicit connotation of it) confused. That would be akin to asking why a genius is always smart. Choamsky and Derrida in particular have beat this to death, must we hash it out here as well?

    Is that a trick question? And if so, where's the trick and how does she look?

    So I take it that you're implying that Prince is a moron, since his favorite color is purple.

    Sometimes I just don't get you ivy-league guys!

    BTW--It's Chomsky. I take it you have studied the geneaology of linguistics? I won't comment on the two gentlemen for I have neither respect nor disrespect for the scholars. Chomsky, IMO is anti-american and Derrida is, well...french!

    I think of all the criticism I've seen on the two, that is the most succinct and accurate I've seen! My hat comes off to you...so are you up for tenure now or what?

    =======================

    There's a difference between being under-educated and being a moron.
    Common sense is what makes the difference . . .
    I used to work in a semiconductor factory with lots of toxic chemicals. To make a long story short, I ended up calling OSHA 'cause the managers wouldn't fix obvious safety problems, like putting an emergency shower directly over a 200 volt power outlet. Four years I wrestled with those morons, and I finally gave up and quit. Nasty, toxic place to work . . .
