Anyone from texas?
In about 11 days I'm flying into Fort Worth for fire school.
After thats all said and done, going to go hang out in Houston for 3-4 days and rent a car.
Basically if anyone has anything cool they know of to check out in Houston..let me know! I want to make it worth my while, cause probably wont be back anytime soon.
They say everything is bigger down there, hopefully that applys to my **** also.
Thanks!

I'm in Austin, but RaginCajun is in Houston. I'm sure he knows a few places. And yes, everything IS bigger here. My _ _ _ _ is so freaking massive... you have no idea.

It's like Houston's Ghetto. I made a wrong turn and ended up there once. I wasn't sure if I was gonna make it out of there. I saw one white person; a cop, when he pulled me over and said driving my car through that part of town at that time of night was asking for a death wish. He told me that he didn't tell me to do this, but he recommended I get out of there fast and not stopping at any stop lights. The only time I've ever been the minority. I didn't like it.....

Houston has more shitty areas than nice areas. I grew up in the area & only go into Houston if I 110% need to. Save your time & money, go to Austin. San Antonio is a decent place to visit also.

No shit, I had 20 acres right off Mckawa, it was down the road from a private pond that you could pay and go scuba diving or swiming in....I can't remember the name of the pond for the life of me, I think that would have been around 92-94 maybe....I didn't live there but I did stay out there quite a bit and would drive out daily....
Small world....

nice. Yeah, I didn't go back until 2006 for a visit. Holy moly! I was lost! Unbelievable development. The only thing that looks the same are the schools. Always nice to visit, though. Everyone bitched about galveston but we always made the best of it. I miss H town at times.

From the people I know that are from/live in Texas, they say that Austin is way different than the rest of Texas. There are some negative stereotypes about Texas (there are everywhere), but I was told that Austin is very similar to Boulder (which I LOVE). I met a girl in Spain from there, and I have her information. She invited me to check it out sometime, so I think I will have to take her up on her offer. Austin is a pretty educated city, correct? I heard it is a university town (again like Boulder).

if you are looking for a vacation type spot, then i would reccomend austin over houston, just cuz of 4th and 6th street.
depends on the party and crowd as well.

Go to Kemah and hit the Boardwalk. Tons of bars, restaurants, and bands. Good seafood, rides, and pretty women.
