I got a degree in film. I currently direct commercials but lately I've been doing a little work in front of the camera.

From the mouth of babes. You have no idea of what success means except in the terms of $$$
LOL, 50K I make well over double that, almost 3x and as far as money goes it doesn't go very far and it does not buy you happiness or success.
$500K a year would be a good start but $50K is barely above poverty level.
Success comes in a lot more ways than $$$ and they are more important. You will figirue that out in about another 25 years.

agree.
if talking purely about financial success, i think it all depends on what that person sees as successful.
High expectations can lead to feelings of unhappiness when they are not met... but if you are a happy person as long as your basic needs are met ~ more money is great but not a measure of your success.
hell as long as I am debt free and can paint/ mountain bike /kayak I feel successful money wise and thats on my sad little income lol. I know people that make a lot more money yet have crap relationships, hate there job, are so swarmed in debt its laughable and I dont see them as successful in any aspect at all

I'm gonna start college soon and i'm trying to figure out what I want to major in. Something conducive to being a military contractor.
From what I've heard as long as you have a degree they put you ahead of a lot of people so i'm thinking psychology or political science.

Can any of you guys that are here balling 50k+ a year hook me up with a job? I live in south florida and make $31k a year plus holidays, occasional overtime, vacation/pto, free medical and dental insurance. I'm only 20 years old and I guess that's not too bad for my age (yes I support myself 100% bills come out to be roughly $1300 a month). However at the end of the year when I am a florida resident I think I'm going to drop this job, go to school full time and wait tables to try and scrape by. $15/hour isn't too bad but honestly I want to be making $50k+ and I'll be O.K!

If u have experience in waiting tables. My servers at my restaurant make 80k$+ a year. That will get u through school. They only work 30 hrs a week maybe.
Btw that's in south Florida too

Wow where do I apply
!! I'm actually a server on thursday/sunday nights from 5-10:30pm at a sushi buffet. I started working almost full time at this restaurant when I moved here roughly 7 months ago. When I got my full time job I asked if they could keep me on those two nights because it's pretty good side money and they did. I'll send you a PM

To me success is being in control of your time. You can always make a buck but you'll never get back a wasted day.
I used to work with a director that made $65,000 a day. Yeah he was valued at over 120 million personally. He had a huge mansion in the Hollywood hills but his wife left him and his daughters didn't really like him. We worked for him because his jobs always paid well. But nobody really liked the guy. He offered his mother a million dollars and she turned it down. The guy has more money than most but I wouldn't want his shitty life.

Not sure if this was because u don't belive he makes that much, or because you don't believe about 50k being over poverty. Cause im right there with lovbyts,, making just under 3x that, and I live just about pay check to pay check. But that said, I consider myself successful. Because I am happy with what I do.

I don't make a lot
I'm not a greedy person
Roof over head
Food in cupboards
Bills paid
And family time is what matter most to me.
I could choose to work more but I wouldn't see the kids half as much so I opt for a simple life
I don't struggle at all
Always got some spare cash and holiday money.
But family time and love is where Im at.
I'm a teacher of some description
