^^ I'm close behind you, however I listen to a bit of everything. My record collection spans every genre. Own more albums and singles on vinyl than cd's and digital media combined.

In the gym I used to listen to punk and OI to get me going, however I've found, for me anyway, it was another distraction. Now I listen to nothing but my own drive and motivation. Everything else drowns out to silence with that in my head.

I listen to The Distillers a lot.

    And Dubstep/obnoxious electronica.

Lately I have been listening to Sleigh Bells. They have a cool sound and a lot of their music seems to have the right sound for my workouts.

Nice. I can't listen to this stuff in the gym, but it's otherwise my favorite era and/or genre. You just named 3 of my top bands there!

I don't listen to anything while I'm lifting. Honestly, my hearing goes out while I'm doing a heavy set. I have no idea if it's due to being focused or if it's because the strain is causing bloodflow to be rerouted.

But before I go to the gym, I typically want to listen to something that gets my mind and body in to focus. I don't need to listen to aggressive death metal in order to get myself in the zone.

An Opeth album, something classical, or jazz can do the trick for me.

If you like Genesis, you'll like this. Phil Collins is on drums.

    All things Metal.

Sabbath, Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, FFDP, Trivium, Opeth, Bullet for my Valentine, Atreyu, Maiden, Death Angel, Sepultura.

Mix in some Rage, Primus, Green Day, Pistols, Black Crowes.

Sometimes add in Wu Tang, NAS, Snoop, NWA, ONYX, Jay Z.

When it's time to relax or pick up the six string it's Floyd, Hendrix, Zep, Doors.

Oh and did I mention Sabbath.

Punkrock. DK, circle jerks, rancid, angry Samoans, dayglo abortions, smutt peddlers etc etc etc. best stuff on the planet. Anyone that needs a little motivation in the gym needs a little minor threat in their headphones

Nothing when lifting but cardio is generally 80's big haired metal. GnR, ac/dc, Crue, Metallica. Throw in some green day and foo fighters and my current favourites Biffy Clyro and The Dropkick Murphy's and cardio seems not such a chore.
