Stress
How do you guys deal with stress.
I've had stress for a number of years and I think a good portion of it is job related (which I am in the process of remedying).
How do some of you deal with stress? I think it's part of the reason I also get very impatient and I really want to kick my impatience.
A few things this summer I want to do to try and take my mind off things:
Archery
Martial art
Build a model engine
Meditation
Sport activity (like basketball)
I need more than just the gym. I am also someone who gets bored very easily. I am sick of getting angry and frustrated easily and need to find something that will help calm me down. Something that will be good for my mind.

That does help, especially the without if it's the partner causing the stress unless you just want to take it out on her.
I have had many many things that over the years would stress most people out beyond limits. For some reason I have just always been very good at looking at things logically and not worrying about them for the most part. When things do get to a braking point I just make a decision on how to deal with it and do my best to follow through.
I have to say the last few years I have not been doing as good as I use to and it's been taking it's tool. Acid reflux for 2+ years, high blood pressure, 160+ / 100+ Yeah meds help of course but damn I hate having to take them.
Talking (venting) with friends or peers helps or at least it does me.

Stuff like archery takes a lot of skill to do well at and it's very frustrating when you miss. If you're trying to relieve stress, I'd avoid stuff like this that can just get you even more worked up.
Try stuff like going fishing or hiking. Go to the nudie bar if you got money to spend and don't mind going home with blue-balls.

Watching films, quiet time, writing problems or things that are stressing me out down on paper are techniques I use to relieve stress.

Honestly, for me it's working out. I try to focus on taking that negative energy to the gym and getting mad at those weights. I always feel good and relaxed when I leave. It helps with sleep like nothing else, etc.

I've kinda grown out of video games now, and it was something I used to quite enjoy doing.
I do like reading and watching movies but afterwards I feel kind of unproductive. I think I need to be doing a physical activity.

It doesn't seem like there are any new or original shooters coming out. Last one I played was BioShock II

A couple years back I bought Mortal Kombat 9, more for nostalgic purposes as it was a reboot of the first three MK games and I got hooked! Then around late last year, I just got bored of it and then others in general. Watched the trailer for Injustice and I just dont have the inclination to buy it, learn it, put time into it, etc.
Like I said im looking at more outdoor stuff and checking out sites for target shooting and archery in my local area.

Go out for drives with Motor Clubs etc and just listen to music and films to chill out. Call out to friends also. My job is a high stress envoirnment also and I have learnt to not to think or do work directly after I get home. I go to the gym then come home log into the work computer do some work and then off again within 15 mins I cannot be dealing with that rubbish any earlier.

Take a corner at 130mph on a sportbike slammed on it's side, and you'll be stress free. Next best thing would be flying a jet.

I'm a musician and a painter. So either my stress soothes me through music or on a canvas

LULZ!
There is a boxing gym a few miles away for me that charge the same price as my bog standard one. If this place has access to free weights i'll probably end up switching.

#1: Music can soothe the savage beast. I also like to escape away from society, which is really just going to a metro park, but still a nice escape. If you are really interested, pick up The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. It's basically a western perspective of Buddhism/Meditation and very easy to follow.

I have not been diving for a couple of years now.
I remember the 1st time I went diving with a buddy who was certified. I had gone to a few classes with him and read the books but never dove.
The first time as I was decending at around 15ft I started to feel a lot of pressure on my right ear. I could not get it to clear. I have always had problems with that ear as in hearing, being a little plugged etc. I know exactly what you are NOT supposed to do so me being stubborn and yeah not very bright I kept trying to go down again and again and again. Finally I said fvck it and grabbed onto the anchor rope and SLOWLY kept pulling myself down trying to clear my ears. I was down to 40 ft and they had not cleared. Yes very stupid. Finally believe it or not they both cleared. Wow what a relief and thank god I did not blow the eardrums.
Ever since then even if I have a little bit of a cold my ears clear easily when diving ever 2-3 feet. lol
BTW yes I am certified now. That's one of the things I did in Thailand, besides what everyone knows I did there.

Try splitting firewood. Splitting firewood is repetitive enough to almost be a meditation, productive, and since it's hitting something with a big ol' sledgehammer it's quite cathartic.
Woodworking can be something else that is productive, but very good for stress relief.
I also find hard core cleaning is great for stress relief, can be a bit of a work out, and is productive.
Try doing yard work for an elderly neighbor or a single mom. It's service to your fellow man, physical enough to wear you out and allow stress relief, and allows you to work on your tan.
Keep a gratitude journal. In a gratitude journal you write down 5 things a day that you are grateful for. It can be something as simple as, "a great cup of coffee".
Do breathing exercises.
Go do something you enjoy with your best friend.
Get a massage, a facial, a pedicure or some other body care service that you enjoy.
Go to a "pick your own" farm and pick your week's produce.
Study a new skill. (It allows you to read and still be productive.)
Go Mountain biking.
FWIW, 500mg of Valerian root a couple times a day will help keep you from becoming stressed to begin with. Valerian root is known as "Nature's Valium". While you are on it, you won't really FEEL any different; you will just suddenly realize that things that normally get to you are having no effect at all.
HTH,
-Treasure.
