    Couldnt hold myself

Just got back from a walk with my dogs and my GF.

We were crossing one park where one guy was standing with his dog, that dog attacked mine little girl jack russel parson, I went there to take them apart and the guy kicked my dog to ribs pretty hard and she fly off almost a 1meter!

I couldnt hold myself came to him and start screaming 10cm face to face all the bad words I know!

My GF took me away, I am very glad for that, she is still pissed at me, but I just had blackout and couldnt hold back

I am home sitting on chair and still SHAKING!

    Poor dog

Glad you were able to walk away. I don't if I could have walked away from that, I probably would have shattered his jaw.

How far do you think you could have kicked that bastard if you kicked HIM in the ribs? I applaud you got being able to walk away. When I see someone hurting children and animals (and saying the word 'duhhhh' to a much lesser extent) turns me into a barbaric cretin. My pets are like children in my eyes. You kick my pet, you may as well have just attacked my child. Grrrrrrr! so unnecessary too. No need to drop kick a 14lb JRT. Jesus. I would have had your back all the way there man.

Do you know who he is in case.youre dog needs treatment? He needs to pay.

    For any treatment.

I hope your dog is ok.

    I told him that!

If I can trow him on the ground and start kicking him.

Than my GF grab my hand and took me away.

If their on the leash easy enough to pull them away pulling dogs apart while fighting isnt the safest thing to do risk of getting bitten but to kick a dog is just down right dirty

Im not really a animal lover so ill sit on the fench here but what If rolls were reversed how would you have delt with the situation? You dont put your hands between fighting dogs so isn't kicking the only way to eliminate the hazard?

Assuming they have collars on, they're easy to seperate. If not, a dog this size you can just grab by the scruff of the neck. As Gaspaco said though, if they were larger dogs, you havent got a lot of choice but to control the situation by distraction by belting it with the lead or kicking it in a controlled manor. Again though, if its just a large dog attacking your small dog, and the owner isnt around to stop it, too right I would kick it in the ribs or legs.

In your situation Gasp, Id have laid out the owner, thats for sure.

They were on leashes, if I read that correctly. Pulling the leashes, HARD, would have done it. It sounds like this guy knee-jerk reacted without trying any other method. Animal love/hate has nothing to do with this. These are pets going for a walk. The issue is was booting a 14lb terrier hard enough to make him take flight necessary. I'm pretty sure that if you had a pet animal you'd love that one even if you don't like others. I don't like most kids (brats) but MY kid is golden in my eyes

This sucks. Perhaps leashing the dogs in the future will prevent this from happening again.

Was his dog off leash also or just yours?

I walked through the park a few months back and a women's pit was not fixed and off leash and came after my dog who is also not fixed but on leash. I stomped the shit out of her dog repeatedly.

People are so oblivious to dogs behavior. Your dog might be fine but if his isnt and he has his leashed who is really at fault. I am glad your dogs ok but I get really annoyed by situations like this. The park is not your back yard keep it leashed.

Its funny I met this russian guy at the park has a shepherd too and we were talking and he was telling me a story about his dog who started a fight with another dog which was a mastiff. He was actually blaming the other owner for not breaking it up when his dog leashed and this russian kids was not.

I can't believe you. What do you like dude. The other dog was bigger, but even if we were fitting how about someone wanting to break it up kicked you in the ribs. You don't like dogs so you don't know how you would feel in Gaspaco's shoes. You don't have pets so you need to stay out of this one.
My kids are grown, but now I have my "Buddy" see him up there, you hurt him and I'll rip your face off. That's how I feel. Don't even yell at him. I scold him, no anyone else. We have a ten (10) yr. old Black Chow/ Blk Lab. Screw with him and I'll take you out after he gets done.
No one should kick a pet in the ribs. …crazy mike

You dont go anywhere to take them apart when they are leashed. You pull the dogs away as soon as they start getting nasty with one another. Their should not have even been enough time for a kick from the owner.

Then he said this to lunk

I know lunk, but jack russels are SO hyperactive you cant get them tired on leash! Which if the dog comes up with really hyper energy to another dog you are going to have a fight.

    You are right!

I thought the original question was? Where they on leash?

    No they both weren't!

If my 14lb jack was on leash I wouldn't need to pull hard to get her out.

Its cool. I am very sensitive to the issue. When I first got my shepherd I didnt want to get him fixed because I was 28 and was being macho about the whole situation. As I started training him I learned by not getting him fixed he was a target for other dogs. Dominant dogs want to show dominance to a dog that is not fixed as soon as they smell them a half mile away. Its the nature of the pack.

I have had so many run ins with people not leashing their dogs and so many altercations that I try to avoid walking him in the park during peak times. If someones dog is off leash and its not a pit I will drop my dogs leash so he can properly defend himself if that situation arises while still maintaing a calm position. If I react so does the dog.

If its a pit ( I love the breed but they are great fighters) I wont let my dog fight them I will defend my dog.

Its a catch 22 because if a jack russell comes up and attacks my dog and my dog kills it who is labeled as the problem dog? Who gets put down when they were defending themselves

Just remember that there are dogs out there who should not be off leash like this guys. If he knows his dog bites quickly then he should have had it on a leash. Your dog sounds friendly but you cannot predict the behavior from other dogs. High energy can be too much for a timid dog which will start a fight.

I know that we shouldn’t snap. I wouldn't have had the self-control that you showed. Hit me or yell at me and I will ignore it. Attack one of my family members or my dog and we have a problem.

    Something doesn't sound right?

It sounds like the other guy and the dog were standing there. And it sounds like your dog got away from you and approached the other dog. The two dogs started fighting and the guy kicked your dog trying to get it away. Then you had to "go there" and take them apart?

    Did I get that right?

Tell you what, if that's right, then if your dog escaped from you, came at me and my dog, and a fight ensued, I'd be pretty pissed. You and your dog were not in the same location, so strike one against you! there are leash laws, not sure how that applies to your area. And I think I agree with your GF. You blew a fuse over a situation that law enforcement would probably say was your fault, and got in this blokes face.

So how/why did your dog get away from you? Why were you not there to control your animal?

Fukken A, I'd kick your dog too if I had to to try to get it off mine

Sorry, no sympathy here. Size of dogs don't matter.

Normally dogs comes to each other and smell each other.

My dog came to his, smelled, his dog attacks mine and my was trying to protect herself!

I was half meter from them to take them apart and he just kicked her!

Does it sounds right to you??
