    people these days..

just got back from food shopping..

there i was loading my food onto the conveyor belt at the checkout.. and i couldn't help but notice the lady loading her shopping onto the checkout behind me..

she must have weighed at least 300 lbs... and her 2 kids (about 8-10 years old) woulda been hitting close to 140 lbs... i looked at the 'food' she was putting onto the conveyor belt, and it was basically everything from the frozen food isle... frozen pizzas, frozen meals, chicken nuggets.. chocolate, chips, etc.. not a single piece of fruit or veg in sight....

grr... i just feel sorry for those kids, they don't really have any choice... srs these kids are facing a lifetime of health problems.. all because of their fat lazy parents.... is it really that hard to bake a chicken and some veggies??? i bet she got McDonalds on her way home too....

    /end rant

There is this myth that it is only people with low income that buy this sort of food, but that is bullshit.

I have seen plenty of well off people eating crap like that. While i'd never tell a person what they can and cant spend their money on, some people just like eating shit food far too much.

I assume Australia, like most western Supermarkets, has special offers. In the UK you can buy 3, 500g packs of chicken or turkey breast, for 10 pounds. 10 pounds for 1.5 kilo of poultry. Hell you can buy three whole CHICKENS for that price if you are prepared to skin it and seperate.

People are just lazy and simply do not want to put any effort into making food. Junk food is available to eat as soon as you open the packet.

If you budget right, you can buy decent food.

While not as tasty as fresh, even buying frozen meat, fish or poultry is preferable to buying shit!

Agree with Flagg. If you cook your own meals (i don't mean heat up frozen pizza), you can make tons of cost effective healthy meals.

    Yep.

Rather than buy steaks individually in packs, I tend to buy joints of beef or pork, then cut them up into steaks. Sure it means a bit of work, but you make a killing on savings.

Supermarkets dont help though, catering to laziness. I mean buying chopped fruit and veg in bags, REALLY? One supermarket in Denmark last year was trying to sell bananas already peeled. The mind boggles...

What i dont get is, onebig sweet potatoe would feed a family of 4 no bother. People just like routine or just like plain shit food and feel chips burger chicken nuggets etc are easy to eat and cook and they "feel" like they are good for them when they really know its not but make excuses.

Sure, I haven't clue most of the time when I make new dishes but a bit of common sense and awareness they normally turn out pretty nice

Some kids just don't know any better and have no chance growing up. But when you look at it what costs more. A bag of fresh produce or Doritos? 5lbs of skinless chicken breasts or a 10lb value pack of chicken nuggets? Laziness sells

Oh, and it usually tastes better too!

Was she a food stamp Momma? Normally their shopping carts are filled with unhealthy “food”. You should have flexed. Then in the Macho Man’s voice you should have told her family that it was time to get in shape, "Oh Yeah!".

You are correct. Laziness does sell. Individuals can get produce and meat for very little money if they are willing to do a little work. Most individuals are too lazy to save money.

Flagg is right, actually most of you are right! I took my 19yr old to the market to try to teach her about "food budgets" (thats what I do ) so I got, 2 15ish #pork, 13 chix thighs, 10# hamburger, 5# premade patties, 2 whole chix, 4 marinade mixes blah blah, we seperated, packaged & marinated all of it, took about an hour (most ppl it will take a little longer) we got 16 days main protien dishes for dinner! so I asked "we got 16 dinners for about $80, how much can we get for $80 if we went out?" all 4 of us? about 1 meal with dessert, the light bulbs def started going off lol

My grocery cart looks different from most others. I really have a hard time believing that the average non bb type eat cheaper in fast food grocery type items. Really. I buy a tube if lettuce for 4 dollars and some change. Throw in some grape tomatoes, avocado, some chicken and this girl has a meal.

I think alot of ppl are into convenience and companies know this and charge more for meals in a bag with cheap carb fillers.

I really don't spend too much time cooking healthy meals and I am worth it

a couple of things... this stereo type certainly was formed for a reason, gawd knows i see it wayyyyy to often

we have had to be on food stamps a couple of times- not our proudest moments but hay the state has a habit of closing jobs that benefit society to cut expenses. thats just something with live with ( past 4 employers were closed out or my divisions were) and while we do eat healthy we did in fact have special occasions like graduations or anniversary during food stamp times that we wold buy something extravagant like lobster or a cake for a party. I just wanted to let you know that yea some of the food stampers lol are ok people not abusing the system

im over weight and eat way healthier than the majority but i eat too damn much of it lol my kids eat healthy but are allowed to pick out 1 treat each in the store IF they are very well behaved each week.

i personally believe that government food programs should be more like the WIC.
where only healthy food is approved for nutrition substance at the public expense. after all its in place to provide nutrition and prevent malnutrition but over all that just no longer the case. most carriages are full of "foods" that are just fillers with cr@P NUTRITIONAL VALUE. and its a damn shame. hay if your a grown adult - eat what you want but i feel its neglectful to have a steady intake of non food like items being given to your kids- teaching them unhealthy eating habits.

crist most all my foster kids dont know 3/4 of the food i buy or how to eat it or cook it or store it and thats just plain sad to me. (although it is fun to see them eat a star fruit for the first time or that you can cook a banana or have a pizza made of cauliflower lol)

I agree. I also believe that community gardens should be instituted in every community. This would help bring the community closer and help save on food cost. My family has always had a garden. I have carried on the tradition. I always have plenty of vegetables to share with the elderly in my neighborhood and plenty to can.

Smart. They know most people are lazy.

The world its not designed around people like us. Fat begets fat. The fatter you get, the less active you get (ie lazy). Vicious circle. I do feel sorry for the fat kids though. Maybe there needs to be some sort of fat ass intervention program.

Oh holy crap you guys are fing hilarious! Chews your banana that was peeled by another machine and ads digestive juices, then squirts it directly into the fatso's barely functioning liver. Who needs a stomach? Plus, it leaves their hands free to post their latest story about how they did nothing all day on facebook.

That’s the intention of the alien over lords. They are fattening us up so that we are easier to control and can’t fight back. Fat people are like turtles you put them on their backs and it’s hard for them to get up. Plus the meat from fat people is renowned for its flavor, tenderness, and fatty, well-marbled texture.
