lol. I'm no marketing genius, but I probably would have thought of something other than 'FATkini' as a nickname. Way to go, Gabi!

Yeah, I know they could lose weight if they put their mind to it, but I have been fat and know how awful I felt. Nobody saw me with my shirt off for a decade.

I can tell you this: women love those suits and they sold out right away when they first launched.

I wish. They made a mint.

Obviously plus size clothes are going to start bringing in more money since American is getting fatter. High end designers have refused to touch that market because they don't want to be branded as plus size, and it is hard to design clothes that look good on a bigger body.

Someday soon, though, talented designers are going to focus on profit rather than prestige and will start producing decent clothes for that market. They are going to do very well.

I spend some time on Jezebel.com (there are political issues discussed that I follow, plus have a lot of fashion stuff) and the women there absolutely freaked out when those swim suits launched.

a la' the degradation of American society. In 1960 80% of people 24-35 were married, today that number is 45%. In the last 20 years alone, American's waist sizes have BALLOONED! We make up 5% of the worlds population, and consume 25% of its energy resources. I wonder how much food Americans consume in comparison. To be politically correct, we celebrate things which traditionally would have been seen as morally obtuse, unhealthy, or otherwise detrimental to a normal life. As a libertarian/Republican, I respect anyone's right to do whatever it is makes them happy as long as they don't cause harm to anyone else, so I would never advocate trying to legislate peoples weight. However, I will certainly voice my distaste at trying to make it acceptable to be a fat pile of shit.

I am also disgusted by the normalization of being fat. I was speaking from a purely financial view.

I mentioned that I know how awful it feels to be fat but I didn't stand around demanding better looking clothes. I lost 75 pounds.

Yea, I was supporting you in that post bud......I think the social norming of being obese is equivocal to celebrating your kid getting C's&D's on his report card. As both of these celebrate being lazy and disinterested in your personal success.
