Black label on the rocks
Took this week as a vacation from my job, and currently attending bartending school to get my "certificate" but mostly learn, and get hands on experience so I can start working as a bartender instead of working my way up. In my position I believe working part time and going to school full time is better than working full time and going to school part time. This is why I decided to become a bartender. I can't be the only one... bartenders and mixologists come out and share your experiences with me!

LOOOOOOOL you jerk! Haha I didn't even finish schooling yet let alone get a job as a bartender and you're already busting my balls about it lol. Remembering all these crazy drink names and ingredients should be a job on it's own! I've already made flashcards of about 20 drinks and I only have about 12-13 of them down so far.

Anyone can be a bartender now. Auto drink pourers, apps and software for recipes.

I only know one also and luckily it's only 3 blocks from my house. You arent going very far after having 2. 1 is normally my limit and I'm no light weight. It's fun watching all the patrons at the bar when they start to free pour and add just a splash of coke to the top. Then they ask, what the hell is that?

Anyone can tend bar but not everyone can make a drink! There are the people that make drinks like robots and there are people that like to create cocktails that people only come to you for. I had a strong following when I was back in Tampa. I only worked 2 days a week and paid for a great place to live, all my bills, and school. I would get fresh fruit every morning and make drinks with fresh squeezed juice, muddled fruit, and fresh garnishes. People appreciate the effort that goes into making a drink like that and tip you accordingly. You'll piss off the lazy bartenders because that's all they'll here about but it takes you to the next level. Also, don't get into the habit of thinking that making a strong drink will get you a better tip! There are so many people out there, including myself, that want the drink to taste right. When you fill a glass 3/4 full of private stock and just put a splash of sprite in it taste's like shit! People want to enjoy their drinks and those that want the triple pour drink aren't going to tip you shit for doing it.

This reminds me I have a couple bottles of Black label I have not opened yet. Only 750ml and one a bit larger I picked up on my last cruise.

bartending school will not get you a job, most teach you the basics which you do need to know. But most of the drinks they teach you are ones you will never use. And dont even think about the ton of shot recipes. You may be able to get a job at a small bar, beer place or dive. No place you will make good $$. Sorry i get tons of hot girls coming in looking to bartend out of school and i wont even talk to them
If people can't tell your on steroids then your doing them wrong

1/2 Oz. Vodka, Gin, Rum, Tequila, Triple Sec, a splash of sour mix, shake it up then top it off with coke and a lime wedge! Just learned that today lol, that's the long island iced tea. It should be a pretty easy drink to make because those first 5 liquors are on the rack right in front of us and are kept in that order... I don't see how you can go wrong your bartender probably messed up their pour count!
That's impressive as hell that you were able to pay for rent, bills, and also school on top of that working 2 days a week! Show me the way dude!! Let me follow in your foot steps lolLast edited by brazuka; 06-25-2013 at 04:35 PM.

How about hot guys on this forum
? Im going to need a bartending job jk lol but yeah I know what your saying. I expect to be able to work straight as a bartender in a small place for a good 3-6 months and once I get it down then I will think about moving up to better places. Experiance counts for a lot I understand that especially in this game!
