The Movie Thread with Basketballfan22 and Zaggahamma

I thought I would start a thread about movies. I wouldn’t be surprised if a similar one exists, so I apologize if there is one. Anyway, zaggahamma and I have talked about movies; and I thought it would be great to dedicate an entire thread to films.

Personally, I am a big movie fan who has seen over 1000 films. I enjoy watching movies from many genres, including, but not limited to, drama, action (not a big fan of films that only utilize guns and explosions like the stereotypical guy enjoys), comedy, and independent (Pan’s Labyrinth, anyone?).

An extremely short list of some of my all-time favorite films, actors, and directors include the following (listed alphabetically):

Films: Braveheart, Dumb and Dumber, Gladiator, The Green Mile, Schindler’s List, The Shawshank Redemption, Superbad, and Tropic Thunder.

Actors: Daniel Day-Lewis, Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks, Jack Nicholson, Al Pacino, Natalie Portman, Meryl Streep, Hilary Swank, and Denzel Washington.

Directors: Wes Anderson, Stanley Kubrick, Christopher Nolan, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, and Quentin Tarantino.

I watched Running Man yesterday for the first time.. an Arnold classic complete with cheesey lines, terrible acting, and many steroid mentions.

All around it was a great flick, for 1987.

Yeah that is the type of movie I am not really into. Most of the movies by Arnold or Stallone, I tend to not really like. I am not into martial arts movies either.

I absolutely loved commando...and enjoyed predator the original...twins was cutesy funny with DeVito....the one he played with Jamie lee Curtis was decent for the time....overall I think Arnold did a very good job...I think he was the best bb of all time and always had high respect...I was too young(mature wise) to see/finish the (conan series)...
stallone....followed the early rocky series and Rambo as well....both sequel I think most would agree dwindled as they "progressed"...lol

but u gotta love the 2....they are my generation super heros...and imo did a great job

LOVED...when stallone smacked the cig out of dudes hand in "cobra"....lol...for obvious reasons if ANYONE knows me around here

didn't make it to the show today but definitely subscribed here bball man

I just don't enjoy those types of films. A super macho guy that kills everyone doesn't appeal to me. Maybe I just wasn't born in that time period, but the flaw in that logic is that I enjoy films from the 70s and even 50s.

Lol, actually I think Clint Eastwood is the most accomplished actor-turned-director ever. I am a big fan of the Dollars Trilogy, and the movies he directed tend to be excellent as well (e.g. Million Dollar Baby and Gran Torino).

I'll say it. One of my favorite movies, no, two of my favorite movies when it comes to comedy:

    The Big Lebowski
    She's Out of My League

    Both hysterically funny.

Arguably Jeff Bridges best movie. He plays the best stoner ever and Goodman and Buschemi are outstanding as well.

Lol, I don't like heavy metal or music that just consists of screaming (e.g. Slipknot); but I am a huge fan of classic rock and hip hop. Eminem, AC/DC, and Led Zeppelin are my three favorite artists of all time.

Yeah, I just rented Side Effects on DirecTV. I never really heard about the movie before; but after I read the description and the reviews, I decided to watch it. It was definitely surprising.

You liked The Call? I was going to rent that one too, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to watch it. I was on the fence after watching the trailers and previews.
