Well, kid learned a lesson from his mother. Anytime accident happens, be rude, violent and punch in the face.

You're right it wasn't a skate park but say it was a residential street and the mom didn't watch her kid as it ran into the road. Skateboarder is a lot softer than the grill of a truck. Just saying.

in the op both parties are morons. the skater should have a modicum of situational awareness. instead he was showing for his buddy's gopro camera. bang. kid down. the mother is a moron too. she should have a modicum of situational awareness. instead she was off doing i don't know what. bang. kid down. the kid was not hurt. they are resilient. they cry because of system shock, not pain. the mother shouldn't throw a punch because of this. but, if that guy who's a foot taller than her claims he's injured, then it's an injury of shame, because that was a girl punch. the place is neither a skate park or a kiddie park. everybody go home.

To me it would depend on the skateboarders reaction. If he's arrogant and unapologetic I'd probably leave him unable to eat corn on the cob ever again. If the kid isn't seriously injured and the guy apologizes, which seems to be the case, then I wouldn't react violently at all.
