Well considering they have 50% of kids on them and we seem to have dropped in test scores, that's USA I would say I most likely it don't work.

psychotropic drugs are being abused in schools to help kids study. Problem is, school lasts 4 years, and that's a long time to be dependent on a drug to help improve study time.

Medical schools, as confided in me by my doctor, are chuck full of students taking amphetamines for this very purpose. He also said that the addiction rates are high, and that rehab is not too uncommon as well.

I believe it becomes a very slippery slope indeed. Taking the drugs with the excuse that "I need it to help me study" is just that, an excuse. Too many kids become dependent, and it changes them emotionally, just like meth changes people and they begin to act like tweekers.

You would be better off in the long run to avoid taking drugs to help you study.

If you want to get big, go to the gym. If you want good grades, go to the library. Simple. What has drugs got to do with it?

I used to be prescribed dexedrine (prescription speed) because my psychiatrist thought I had ADHD..I hate all these
****ing prescription mind altering drugs, including antidepressants. All these doctors who prescribe this shit to kids who have no idea what they are getting themselves into should get shot in the balls. Bunch of sleazy skumbags, I a doc ever tries to make me take this garbage again, ill break his limbs. This crap ruins lives

Ya I wouldn't mess with it. My brother used to get the Adderall XR at some ridiculous dose for years and he hated it. It's why he's barely 150 at 6'2. You don't eat you don't sleep well... It's chemically not to far from some rec drugs

completely different. if u abuse it im sure it can be similar.

    sorry for drug ref.

when something is chemically not far, that means its completely something different. look at the steroid breakdowns, one small difference is night and day.

ive been on adderral and vyvanse.

obviously they helped immensly when i worked 12hr days in the sun in miami, but other than at work i never needed them. Of course you dont eat very much and it doesnt mix well with trying to maintain a good diet.

I could never take the recommended dose, always more so I needed something to take to go to bed. Been off that crap for a couple years now, I feel so much better.

    Buzz Killington here...

Ease up on the rec drug talk, edit the references and please, review the rules.

Sorry, not what you want to hear but respect the forum rules.

    Thanks.

Correct. Three most widely abused prescribed meds today are:
    - alprazolam (Xanax)
    - amphetamine salts (adderal)
    - oxycodone (OxyContin)

Unless you have a medical condition that requires a prescription and supervision from a medical care provider, do NOT use these drugs recreationally. As TR correctly points out, they have an extremely high addiction potential and the withdrawal effects can be FATAL in many cases. They are intended to treat legitimate medical conditions. They are not safe for recreational use/abuse.
