    Casey Viator-RIP

Another bodybuilder dying a little bit too young. No details released of cause of death but he died 4 days ago on his 62nd birthday.

A proponent of heavy duty training, another sad loss.

    Yes, what a sad day.

It was Casey Viator and Mike Menzter who inspired me as a teen to start training, both have now passed.

Both were legends and decades ahead of their time.

Ain't that the truth big Bro

We are all putting additional strain on our body which it is not meant to handle.

How much? Just depends, some can take more than others

But, the more extreme one look the more extreme their use. We know all if this already, just hate seeing it. But, mortality is a bitch

    RIP

    62 is a bit young

Of course not - it never is(Well, AAs didn't even kill Zooz, his heart did). AAs isn't really the cause. The strain is. . . . There is no way to predict what, when or how our bodies will react in the long run.

Look at Sly, Arnold and many more. They're up there in age and are still doing just fine, then some.

Exactly. Caveat is that anyone, us included, who body builds and happens to die at a "younger" age will automatically have that "steroid" finger pointed at them as if it were automatically the cause. Pisses me off when they generalize like that.

    Casey Viator
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Casey Viator (September 4, 1951 – September 4, 2013) was the youngest ever AAU Mr. America - gaining the title at the age of 19 in 1971.
Viator grew up in New Iberia, Louisiana. In 1968, Viator placed third in the Mr. Louisiana contest. The following year, he came in sixth in the 1969 Teen Mr. America, but won in the categories best arms, best abs and most muscular. Casey Viator had extremely large forearms proportional to the rest of his body.
He trained under the guidance of Arthur Jones for ten months prior to the Mr. America contest at DeLand High School in DeLand, Florida. The two first met briefly at the 1970 Mr. America contest in Los Angeles, California, where Viator placed third. Realizing Viator's potential, Jones offered Viator a job at his new company, the Nautilus Group.
All in the same year, Viator won three separate bodybuilding championships; Teen Age Mr. America, Jr. Mister America, and lastly, the title of Mr. America. In 1982 he capped off his bodybuilding career by placing third in the Mr. Olympia competition.
Viator was a writer for Muscle & Fitness and Flex magazines.

These guys were the pioneers though. They were running blind creating the boundaries we now have the luxury of referring to. We can monitor our bodies in ways these guys couldn't.

    Just a thought.

He was diagnosed, several years ago, with early congestive heart disease and high blood pressure. He was found lying face down by his girlfriend. Autopsy to be carried out.........
