24 Hour Gym does not....
....suspend memberships.
I was told before leaving that I could suspend my membership and then reactivate it when i come back to town. Email from the manager said that only works if I am in the military, and then they'd have to see my travel voucher?
So I ended up cancelling my membership, and i will have to create a new membership account every time i come back home. Sounds like a way for them to make a couple of extra bucks off me?

Def sounds likenthey want to make money off you. They do normally suspend ac's here as you have pre paid for a service you can't use anymore. Can they not refund you the difference

one of the reasons I never pre pay anything more than a month u never know when you have to get up and move out no one refunds coz they claim that they give you a discount when u prepay in advance for a couple of months etc...so they cannot refund that ... excuses excuses...bottom line is bye bye $$

i pay month to month, only 29.95. i jjust didn't want to have to go through the hassle of a new membership 3x a year, plus if the price were to go up...

That's ridiculous. Can you contact corporate. Some of those managers seem clueless to me. You should be able to suspend and reactivate your membership without penalty. The manager may not have the authority but someone does and if you've been a loyal member I would be more apt to keep you happy than see you go elsewhere because you we're disgruntled by some unwritten rule.

other options? like when i come home on leave?
right across the street is california fitness. not open 24 hours, more or less the same price, and although a smaller gym, there seems to be more serious people going there. i only went to 24 hour because my son was a member when i came home from afghanistan the first time

there is this new $10 family fitness center in town. I tried to talk my wife into letting my daughter go there. she didn't like the fact it was in a grocery store parking lot, like somehow it would put our daughter at risk. she she signed her up, after i left, at the old $35/mo place where they were going before....
