League of Denial
League of Denial: The NFL’s Concussion Crisis | FRONTLINE | PBS
This airs tomorrow night. I heard an hour-long interview today with the folks at ESPN that worked on it. Apparently the NFL cancelled some contracts with ESPN due to their participation in this expose.
One news article said that the issue may be more that the US is a Nation of Denial. This is definitely interesting to me and is challenging my own love for American football. Iron Mike's story was crazy, and it seems that it is just one of many.

Here's my view......
If you get a concussion - let the docs say when you can return. In regards to the players and risk..... They fvcking sign up for it. They grew up playin the sport..... They didn't hesitate to sign a multimillion dollar contract..... They knew the risks of playing.

I completely agree that if someone makes the decision to play then let them have at it... but only if the players actually know that it is extremely likely they will suffer brain damage. Remember just a few years ago the league was touting that they had a "concussion-free" helmet and that players wouldn't need to worry anymore? The NFL is fighting to keep this information down, and young players coming into football (not only pro, but college as well) are not given the whole picture to make an informed decision. That's the main point here - football is dangerous to mental health, and it is likely that professional players will have at least some evidence of CTE after their career.
I love the sport and love watching it and have no problem if folks disregard the health risks, but I want it to be their decision and not a multi-billion dollar industry trying to keep money in its pockets.

Well..... This is just my opinion..... But if you approached someone that's up for a contract renewal and told them you had proof of "xyz" and then advised them to not play anymore..... Most of them would take the money.
I agree the nfl is downplaying the risks..... But I don't think it'll matter to any player with a semi large contract
