^^^^^^this!!!!!! The media the Internet is the cause.
I do like this quote from the article tho.
"It’s possible that tapping into humor is how some people cope with grief"

I am def one who thinks everyone is too sensitive nowadays. However its an absolute insult to people who lost family members.

Shameful, vile and disgusting behavior. Not surprised though, 22 years old...

Must admit joking about things is how I cope with horrible things happening! Sometimes it is hard to know where the limit is. Not excusing what this person did in anyway whatsoever!
Thanks

I thought it was kind of funny. People get way uptight over shit. I say "who cares?" It's not like she's going around endorsing the bombing. Making jokes is a pretty good way to cope with something too.

I'd certainly frown upon this costume choice, but death threats are a bit ridiculous. Threatening to kill a stranger for having a poor sense of humor (when nobody was harmed) seems a bit...fascist.

Agree. Can't think of many scenarios where death threats would be acceptable. That's just retarded.

Did you see what people did in response?
When some discovered that Lynch had once posted a photo of her driver’s license online, they used her home address and other personal information to assist with further attacks. One user tweeted that he sent Lynch a vile package, others found racy photos of her online and circulated them, and some even tracked down her parents’ contact information and sent them death threats.
It goes on where they did more. Personally I think these people are FAR worse than her having a poor sense of humor. Every one of those people who threatened her should be brought up on charges.
I like this one better. A pair of men from Florida dresses as Trayvon Martin (complete with blackface and a bloody sweatshirt)Last edited by lovbyts; 11-06-2013 at 04:36 AM.

I love how some folks don't think it's offensive. How about a dead soldier costume?
Singing a different tune yet? Tragedy is tragedy right? Senseless. Death threats are extreme, but seriously... don't act like tough guys. I'm sure if a terrorist managed to blow up your mother or sister, you'd feel otherwise, like that broad that commented to the article.~ PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR SOURCE CHECKS ~

There was an article today in the paper about two student girls whose Halloween costumes were the destroyed towers from WTC.

Uh I was going to go as a Jagerbomb attach a couple bottles of Jagermeister and some Redbulls to a vest add a clock and you've got a Jagerbomb. Offended? And I've gone as a zombie soldier before. What about all the people going as Jesus. Should we post pictures of them on the internet and talk about being butthurt?
Maybe in my old age I'm getting apathetic and don't give a flying f@ck what anybody else does as long as it doesn't effect me. Her dressing up as a Boston Marathoner that was bombed has NO effect on my life. Nor does anybody else dressing up as dead soldiers, jesus, Mohammad, god, the hulk or whatever else someone else holds dear. Shit I even had someone dress up as ME this year. I laughed my ass off at that.
Some people take stupid things too seriously. I have too many other things in life to worry about than some one elses halloween costume.

Who's acting like a child? I swear in real life should I fake it for you here so as not to offend your delicate sensibilities?
Serious adult question Austinite what do you do if someone in real life says or does something that doesn't harm you but you get offended over?Last edited by evander87; 11-06-2013 at 04:30 PM.

Again, grow up and stop barking for your own good.~ PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR SOURCE CHECKS ~

Who's adult here? Yeah I swear like a mother fukker. So what you're telling me to "grow up and stop barking for my own good" Are you seriously threatening me because I quoted you to answer your questions and I SWORE????

Definitely agree with Austin on this being wrong.....our society has been going down the shitter for awhile but it seems like its going even quicker now. The problem is when people say "it doesn't effect me, so what does it matter". It matters because your being an immature asshole who is not thinking of how insensitive this is. If they had someone that died in the Boston Marathon or during 9/11 I am sure they would never have dressed up like that and would never have thought it was funny. I don't see how that is even close to being a funny costume? Majority of people live life in a shell, they hear of our soldiers dying but don't truly understand it. They hear of the shootings, but don't get it. All it is to them is a number on the TV screen of deaths. They don't piece together that each number is a person and each person has family.
I apologize for the mild rant. This what not by any means directed to anyone on this board. Just my thought on the matter.

Tomorrow in the UK is Remembrance Day, where everyone in the UK achknowledges everyone who has ever died fighting in a war.
To mark the occasion, most people wear a poppy, one poppy denoting a life lost. You are usually expected to donate a small amount of money for the poppy.
Now this year, this bullshit has started: DO NOT FEEL BAD ABOUT NOT WEARING A POPPY
Wow, dont feel bad about NOT RESPECTING some poor bastard that died a thousand miles away from home. On this occasion, I think people SHOULD feel bad about not wearing one. It makes me sad to see a distinct LACK of people wearing poppies.
Hey, just one more thing to toss onto the fire of apathy.

There are certain groups, religions, cultures who want to brain wash anyone/everyone into forgetting your basic rights, what your ancestors gave their life to protect, pretend it never happened and hope everyone will forget so when they continue taking your/our rights away you wont think it's any big deal or even notice.
It's very sad so much of our future generation is willing to give up so much for so little.
This is one of the reasons I was against smoking ban in ALL restaurants and bars. Forcing ALL stores, restaurants and bars to install handicapped access and facilities. It's just another way to take away rights and big government to control us all under the guise of knowing what is best for us.
OK, enough rant.... for now.
