Gave blood today
I snickered when they told me I wouldn't be able to work out tonight. An hour after the draw and i feel like death! Definitely no gym tonight.

lol. I always wait 24 hours before hitting the gym. But generally, a 4 hour wait is plenty. Good job donating, tdoe!

Gave blood for the first time in my life last week. I brought all kinds of food to work and drank a half gallon of water before I went in at 4pm. Felt great. Only had a couple glasses of orange juice. Maybe eat/drink more next time. My hemocrit went up to 54 since last bw a year ago. So, this will probably a regular thing for me.

Usually your HCT needs to be on the low end already for you to feel dizzy/queasy. But anything is possible. If your body gets used to high HCT then it can affect you as well. I always feel great after a draw.

Please excuse my quick hijack...
austinite, I remember reading a couple of months ago that your hct level had risen to a level similar to mine.
Has it gone down? I read hct typically is reduced 1-3% with each draw. Thanks.

Yeah it went down and is below 50%, where I like to keep it. For me, a pint will yield about 3 % drop once rehydrated. Hydration is very important when you measure HCT, because you could be hydrated today and measure 48, and tomorrow you could be 51+ if you're not hydrated.

Thanks guys. And I ate some amazing alfredo sauce pizza with chicken, tomatoes, feta and artichoke hearts (thought I would rub it in) and drank a lot of water. Feel like a champ now

Good job donating! I'm up to 3 gallons. I go every three months, feel great afterwards or sure. I always have fun with the pb's too! Cute ones where I donate.

Is there a problem donating while on gear?
Thanks

been meaning to give blood. actually have the time today. i havent done it in 20 years. im running a keto diet, wondering if i will have to possibly ingest some sugar as a result, which will in turn make my objective that much more difficult.
