    Wisdom teeth

Well it looks as though they want to take my wisdom teeth. Anyone else have this done as an adult?

are they giving you problems? if no then don't let anyone touch them. everyone I know that removed the wisdom teeth, including me has screwed up the rest of them. wisdom teeth keeps the rest of your teeth in place, if removed then your teeth will start spreading apart and become crooked.

They can tell from your xrays if you need them removed. Just because they are not giving you a problem now, doesn't mean they will not be causing your teeth problems as they co0ntinue to come through.

I have never heard of the explanation given by Bass before. In fact, in most cases, it seems the wisdom teeth create pressure. This causes the teeth to push together.

Bahahaha, I do Just ask questions man. If they are coming in wrong then they may be saving you serious damage to your other teeth by yanking them now. I have 2 of 4. Had 2 pulled when I was in my low 20's and now at 40 one is needing pulled. I wish I would have done it all at once and gotten it over with!

why put your self through the pain, save it until you have to do it. what Lunk noted is true but rare IMO.

x2. You'll know when they have to go. I had 3 pulled at once @ age 40 and wouldnt recommend it unless it's necessary...

Early 30's one of mine started giving trouble and was pressuring the rest of my teeth. Had all 4 taken at once. Glad I did.

From Wiki: Wisdom teeth are extracted for two general reasons: either the wisdom teeth have already become impacted, or the wisdom teeth could potentially become problematic if not extracted. Potential problems caused by the presence of properly grown-in wisdom teeth include infections caused by food particles easily trapped in the jaw area behind the wisdom teeth where regular brushing and flossing is difficult and ineffective. Such infections may be frequent, and cause considerable pain and medical danger. Other reasons wisdom teeth are removed include misalignment which rubs up against the tongue or cheek causing pain, potential crowding or malocclusion of the remaining teeth (a result of there being not enough room on the jaw or in the mouth), as well as orthodontics.[5]

you're a tougher guy than me! I pulled two on one side based on the dentist recommendation, and never went back to pull the other two. the pain and agony I went through pulling my wisdom teeth just because its not something I encourage people to do. my poor daughter pulled all 4 and she went through hell for two weeks.

Had mine done a couple months ago. Took 2 min a tooth to remove, then a week of eating and drinking cautiously.

All 4 of mine are severely impacted. I was in the chair and the oral surgeon said " I may have to break your jaw to get them out"

I said " no you won't" and I got up and walked out lol

Unless causing pain, displacement of other teeth or decayed, they really don't need to be removed - although many dentists will recommend the procedure.

I have three. Two impacted, one decaying and should be removed.

Both on the left side have been removed because they broke through and caused a lot of pain. Both in the right side are still down in there minding their own business.

If you are getting one out then do them all. I had mine pulled and have had no issues. Better to do while your younger as you heal faster. Guys who get them pulled later in life tend to have more complications.
