I always herd 15-16 is best time to start
I started doing bicep curls in seventh grade on my own. when we made it to sixth.grade everyone had a training session in my physical ed class. all free weights. bench press squats and cleans. I was the skinniest kid there. I think I benched the bar when I was 11 or 12 years old. I dont see a problem with it as long as there is adult supervison your good to go.
Thanks guys did think any bad would happen just be safe not trying to push anything on the little shtt
Hopefully this link works (on my phone) strength training is the idea. Be careful with lifting weights.

started at your son's age. had no f'ing idea what the hell i was doing, except some vague notion you need to make em go up and down.
in fact, i think it is a great idea. personally, i'd keep it in the high 15 rep to failure range. after all, he does have young tendons and ligaments, and since the blood flow supply to those areas is low, you wouldn't want to do any damage by going too heavy, would you?
best bet, is to teach him proper form, and teach him a simple routine that hits all the major muscle groups. and also a good time to plant the seeds of why it is better to be natural than to try and find short cuts in this area.
Me personally I would get him into sports. Football, basketball, soccer, wrestling, any of those. Make one of those his passion for now. For these sports you need to learn the skills young to be great. He can always pick up lifting later.
Started at age 12 through athletics in school
I started at age 8, maybe sooner.
Wait... Ohhh we are talking about weight lifting? My bad. Ok that was later in life, around 15. Sorry for the confusion.
I dont see anything wrong with it as long as he doesnt do any heavy weight training for a few years.
