    dont know if any of yall are surfing enthusiasts, but i stumbled on this footage while surfing (pardon the pun haha) around on youtube and this spot looked pretty serious to me.

    after reading a bit about the location on wikipedia i realized it was also the site of a monumental day in surfing history.

    below is the video mentioned on wiki of Laird Hamilton surfing what at least back then (august 2000) was considered the "heaviest" wave.



    3:20 into this video ^^^ takes u to the wave..

    Balls of steel! I used to surf, and I will tell you that a 6 foot wave can rattle you if you eat it.
    Couldnt imagine what a 40 Foot wave would feel like. Plus a lot of those big waves are caused by very shallow water. So in a lot of places it is onlt 4-10 feet deep.
