New Job - Broken Jaw
I want to thank everyone for their support on my new job. I was called in on New Years Night shirt and worked booking. Had a dumb ass that threw a sucker punch at me, now I'm a nurse. I hit him once and broke his jaw. He then assaulted a cop and a dentition officer.
Two points, I hate this guy was just drunk and pulled three Felonies but surprised that just due to working out and staying in shape with one hit broke his jaw. I have not been in a fight in 20 years.
The other point is to remind people that one night out drinking can land you in prison for being stupid. IMHO, be smart and keep up the fitness. You never know what type of crazy you will run into.
Always be the one that has been working out than the one that has not. Be strong my friends!

Glad you're okay. Could have been a lot worse. Similar thing happened to me the other night. I didn't get hit though, but knocked some guy into yesterday (hand still hurts). This guy was sh*t faced and I was completely sober.

After reading that first sentence, I developed a headache. I have no idea what you said.

Nothing like going to jail with a broken face. Its going to hurt even more the next time he gets punched with a busted jaw and it sounds like he isn't going to make it long before it happens again.

Our policy is if we are attacked we can protect ourselves. I'm lucky it was on camera. If it had been in the medical room I would have been screwed. I was walking the guy back to the med room and he went nuts. Since it was on tape that he hit me first I had the right to defend myself. My boss wished that the DO could have handled it but due to the tape I was cleared, but it was clear if I had not hit him back I would have been hit again.
We have a strict policy of letting the DO control inmate but this was assault on a medical staff so I had to the right to defend myself. Believe me there was a LOT of paper work and the video was reviewed by both the sheriffs office and my companies management was called in. I was interviewed and given a drug test, urine, and was cleaned. He had been acting totally normal and just snapped.
This person did end up testing positive to PCP, Meth and a few other drugs. He is now housed in Medical. He has a long history of being in mental hospitals and was off his meds. I feel for the guy now in some ways, it was not his choice to have mental disease but at the same time he should not have been doing drugs. From what I have heard he is on a 2/5 protocol (2 Ativan, 5 Haldol) if moved at all. He only gets Tylenol for pain and his antipsychotic drugs. When cleared my medical he will be in seg or moved to a mental health type prison.
I am very lucky compared to the female nurse that was attacked before me. She was stabbed in the neck with her own pen and cant work anymore.

Maybe eating his meals through a straw now will help curb his attitude.
