Just had Hernia Surgery----When can i Train?

    Hey Buds,

Just had ingunial hernia surgery and it wasn't as bad as i thought (thank Jesus). I was up and around the same day...and the 2nd day moving and driving and doing my work routine (desk job and sales).

Anyway, i don't know if i'm getting cocky...but i'm thinking bout hitting the gym and throwing some weight around. Nothing crazy...and just machines for right now. Its only been 3 days...and i still a little sore in the stomach area...but i'm aching to get back to MY ADDICTION of lifting.

    Anyone think its too soon?
What are the dangers of getting to the gym after surgery?

You wouldn't want to re-injure yourself man. Take the time to allow your body to rest. Recover to 100% and then give it hell. If you hurt yourself you'll just prolong recovery or even cause new issues that will cause you to be out longer.

I know the feeling..... It sucks. I'd rather be in the gym too. You're not superhuman tho..... Your body needs to heal itself. No way around it.

    Yeah...maybe you're right.

i'm still feeling a little sharp pain where the staples are. When i laugh---it hurts the gut. Since i use my core in every exercise---- i just might wait a few more days.

internal stitches and repair work may tear, and hernia may recur, requiring a revision surgery, which is a lot more difficult to perform than the original one.

I had hernia surgery (and an appendix removed after bursting as well) on 20 Dec 2013, and I've been lightly back in the gym a month later.

Take it easy, remember, you have nothing to prove. Go slow and don't fuk shit up!

I had my gall bladder and appendix taken out in July and the doc told me take three weeks off in the gym.
I started back in 2 weeks taking it easy and it took almost 7 before I was back to normal.
