    Decided to adopt :)

Nearly 2 1/2 years after our child with fur had to be put to sleep after an 8 month fight with cancer, we decided to adopt a new furry kid into our family. She had been neglected and left on her own for an unknown amount of time before being found and brought to a rescue home for rehab. We met her today and it was an instant fit!

We didn't think we would ever be interested in another dog after losing our yellow lab. This sweetheart has changed our minds

What's this about hairy children? And they say steroid use in men doesn't cause birth defects...

You have no idea. She was apparently running wild for quite some time and surviving on whatever she could catch or find. She was sleeping in a snow bank. A farmer found her, started feeding her and called a rescue home. Even after all of that she is affectionate, trusting and eager to please.

Ive been trying to convince the wife to adopt a set of twins for a while now. She has not agreed as of yet.

I even told her I would do all the training and clean up after them.

We had made up our minds to never own another dog and go through that hurt again. This one found us and some day the right one will find you as well. I'm starting to think that they choose us instead of us choosing them.

Congratulations. We adopted a few months back. Despite a few accidents (including several expensive items being turned into chew toys), it has been great. Enjoy your new family member!

Her name is Shelby and we just learned that she has heartworms. She will have to undergo treatment.
