The rattlesnakes in western SD do kinda of the same thing in the winter they actually curl into a ball of several dozen snakes at one time.

No way you would walk away to tell about it. I believe the Mojave Green is the most poisonous of all the rattle snakes, with over 60% of bites causing an amputation.

Yes sir. I saw a case during a neurology Grand Round in 2011. The venom is one of the more potent presynaptic neurotoxins blocking release of several neurotoxins resulting in paralysis of voluntary and involuntary muscles, including diaphragmatic movements needed for breathing. The challenge in treating Mohave green bites is determining which type of venom was released. Venom A is neurotoxic and fatal if no anti-venom is provided. The B subunit is hemorrhagic and not as fatal. The two delivered at the same time make the Mohave green very dangerous!
