    Diesel truck owners

Bought my first this past winter. Must say its my favorite vehicle to own currently and I've had many. Just wanted to see who else was part of the coal crew. I'd like to hear about it.

Drove my old dodge for the first time in a while over the weekend. 200,000 miles and still runs great (starting to look pretty rough, though).

Purchased a used 02 Ford F250 crew cab with the 7.3 diesel motor last year and have no complaints. At this very moment, diesel gas is cheaper than regular, but at points it's more expensive than premium, costing a pretty penny to fill. Good thing these trucks get good gas mileage vs a gas motor.

The thing that I have a problem with diesel trucks is how the oil companies are raping your guys. I remember when diesel use to be considerably cheaper than gas and when they started charging to much, closer to the price of gas the truckers parked their trucks for a day and the diesel prices dropped back where it should.

Now there are to many personal use diesel vehicles and the truckers no longer have the power they once did. Diesel should be less expensive than gas like it use to be.

Its more expensive than petrol all over the world so no exception for ye. Why its more expensive is due to the fact diesel fuel gives less of a yield than petrol hence being more expensive

Diesel is the bottom of the barrel its the cheapest too make.So there is no reason for it too cost so much.

Because truckers can't work without it. Plain and simple.

There's a market, and they're making a killing off it.

Yes and no. Thats they way it use to work but the truckers had more pull/leverage because they would bann together and stop driving hurting the oil company forcing them to keep the price reasonable.

Now that there are so many private vehicles also using diesel it wont hurt the gas as much so the truckers dont have the leverage they one did and the gas companies can just charge whatever the market will bear hurting the consumer.

Exactly and that is why there is no reason for it to be as much or more than gasoline. It's not refined nearly as much so it should be cheaper.

1990 gas was 1.25 a gallon and diesel just over.40 a gallon. My Datsun small car got 73 mpg on the coal and that puppy is still not retired after flipping over 700,000 miles. Gas companies suck royally.

Havent tried the trucks due to running my plug and play Prius. Currently 35,000 miles on less than a gallon of gas. F the gas companies. Now my mustang is a different story.....

I can only speak for over here, they have increased taxes on diesel fuel over here due to questionable health and repiratory reasons for city people etc.

I assume in america it's just big business cashing in due to the increase in demand maybe?

Also, your fuel in america be it petrol or diesel is pretty bad tbh over in europe most fuel is 95 ron min and in some places you can get 103 ron from the pumps also you can get higher cetane rating for diesel too

I hate you!!!! My car (91 Dodge stealth Twin Turbo 8.5 compression custom pistons 400hp ATW) would LOVE 103 octane.

Your right, our gas is sh*tty. They even add 10% to most all gas claiming it cuts down on emissions. Yeah when it burns it has a little less carbons out the end of the tail pipe but your gas mileage suffers so you have to burn more gas to go the same distance thus defeating the purpose. WTF it's simple physics.

Lol the whole green argument is a hilariously easy argument to pick holes in at the end of the day it all boils down to money and whose making most of it from whatever angle they are peddling this month.

Yeh it's cool all right, being able to get decent fuel handy. Friend has a 1100hp R35 GTR running 95 ron fuel at that power but when fires in race fuel the power sky rockets.

Yes, and they keep adding more restrictions. It cost 400-600 to fill the truck now and than I have to put DEF in so add another 30 to the bill.

Thanks guys. Yea I love my diesel. Cummins guy always had fords but went to Cummins this time love the truck absolute beast. I'm runnin 35" toyos with a 3" lift its plenty high for me. I like em all just Dodge is my fave.

We are getting raped on emissions and fuel prices tho...

Cummins 12 valve. As far as price goes it is largely due to demand. The Europeans, and everyone else for that matter, have largely gone to diesel instead of gas. I did a report on this a few years ago when I was in school, I pulled most of my info from the EIA website. I still think the whole petroleum industry is a cartel and screwing us.

I respect High Compression engines, but they don't gotta be diesel.

diesel is more expensive because of taxes - pure and simple. Those engaged in commerce are called upon to pay the taxes that build and maintain the roads. We may not agree, but there's the way it is.

Here, we can buy farm diesel. it is dyed a different color and must be used in machinery that doesn't go on the road. It is cheaper than regular gasoline.

I got my truck when I was pulling a lot of trailers with cattle and equipment. I never thought I'd still be driving it 15 years later. If you maintain it correctly, it will last. Funny - thats the same thing I say about this old-ass body of mine.
