Question for our British members, about UKIP

I wanted to get the first hand opinions of some of our members from the UK, on what they think about the recent victory of UKIP (United Kingdom Independence Party) winning several MEP seats in the EU parliament. This past week, nationalist parties across Europe won several seats as MEP's in the EU Parliament, garnering between 22-26% of the vote in their respective countries, this is up from the last election where most nationalist parties won between 6-8% of the vote. The media describes these parties as 'Eurosceptic,' or anti-EU, as UKIP certainly is against the UK's membership in the EU, and more then that UKIP in particular wants the EU to be abolished. Significant votes were received in France and Greece, many people believe this is because of the austerity measures in these two countries, and open border policies of the EU.

What do you guys living in the UK think about the nationalist parties like BNP and UKIP?

Do they have popular support, or have you noticed a recent uptick in nationalist party sentiment among people who voted for the traditional parties like Labour?

Do you feel that the mass immigration caused by the relatively open borders policies of the EU, in particular, the migration and proliferation of peoples from predominantly Muslim countries, has contributed to this?

How do people in the country feel about groups such as the English Defense League, battling groups in London who have started patrolling the streets enforcing Islamic law, and who wish to see Sharia law instituted in England?

Most of you won't realize this but democracy in the West is an illusion which disappeared probably after WW2. The West is run by a few big families of wealth who feed the populus the illusion of freedom and democracy.

The UKIP is a party which was formed to help this illusion. They are no different than the other three main parties in parliament. They were formed to take votes of the Nationalist parties like the BNP and heavily promoted by the media in Britain. The left wing National Union of Journalists voted a few years ago to never print anything positive about the BNP or to film them in good light !!!

Unlike America you can get arrested in England for flying an English flag as it is provocative to our Muslim brothers who have swarmed into England.

If you want England for the English then you are deemed by the governmental political police to be racist.

If any of the guys who died for our country in WW2 came back to see what the country is like nearly 70 years later they would think WTF did I give my life for????

Yea, I've got to say Paul, that I find many of the UK's laws to be just completely revolting, and I use them as an example of the kind of demagoguery and ultra politically correct liberal laws that can be put on the books when a citizenry hands over their firearms en mass, predicted upon some false tragedy by which all citizens must acquiesce their rights and power to the state. Like laws which can have you arrested for putting your 'rubbish bin' out a day early, or being arrested for failing to stop at an accident scene and render aid. Those people emigrating to the UK should at least make an attempt to assimilate, we are unfortunately having the same problem with the people from Mexico & South America coming into our country and refusing to learn the language or adopt our customs, while taking full advantage of all of our social welfare programs and education. Just the other day, a commercial for Disney World came on TV, and it broadcast FIRST in Spanish, and THEN in English, it was nauseating. To pile onto that, the majority of our politicians foster this 'white guilt' for simply existing and perhaps living a privileged life, so they pass laws, or fail to enforce laws which already exist, and pander to a group of people living in our country illegally. Of course the legislature they pass never affects their life of privilege, rather the majority of Americans (Middle class) are put upon, and expected to bear the burden of some politicians white guilt or ultra liberal political view point.

Are you serious? This is ridicules. I think i hate multiculturalism it does not work. Its funny how the people who migrate are from poor uncivilized countries and all they want to do is change the laws to make it like the country they left. One country, one language one people.

Australia had a white only policy till the mid 70's meaning you could only immigrate if you were a european white. Thats not racist it just makes sense people of the same ethic/cultural backgrounds blend better together.

Its happening now in aus. The asian masses are trying to illegally get on our island and get offended because we say merry christmas. If i moved to Sadi arabia i would not except them to change there laws.

I'm white British and I completely disagree with you. I suggest not believing everything you read - you can fly the Union Jack/St George's flag freely - I know I do. The media love to whip up racial discord by publishing inane propaganda stories that people can't help but lap up.

Yes, we have immigration issues here in the U.K, but immigrants who want to work hard and contribute to British society shouldn't be discouraged from coming over.

I find it highly ironic that an Australian has an issue with immigrants - have you forgotten your history?
