Where do you zero your AR?

I have my AR zeroed at 50yrds with an Acog. I feel this covers me well from 200 to 7 with very little hold over or under.

Thats about all I ever shoot is 30-50 yards so I do it at around 40.

I zero everything at 100 yards.

200 is the minimum I shoot my main AR's so that's my zero. I do set the rear sight up a few revs up from bottoming out so if I shoot closer in I have plenty of room to run it down. That's for service rifles with irons that I use in competition.

For defense/home/general use I zero at 100 for much the same reasons as lunk

Yeah, very little difference in the close work between 50 and 100 yrd zero

I read your question and my first answer was private land and or outdoor range
Outdoor range has 1000 yrd targets

Zero at 100yrd with most of my rifles
.375 h & h at 200
.470 NE at 50

I'm still using aperture sights( old habits are hard to break). Swapped out the factory aperture and front post with Trijicons, so I zeroed large aperture @ 25 meters.

I would reconsider this practice if you are focusing mainly on CQB style work

Lol, thanks Lunk! I've been in the habit of holding low for a long time.....Eyes are gettimg older, now might be a good time to play around with the elevation a smidge and get back to the lollipop....

Ya that makes perfect sense. That's what I would do to.....zero my cog....holding it over....sometimes under. Or just holding it. Lol

I go to the gunsmith and tell him, I want to shoot people in the head at 500 yards with this scope and rifle. He makes it work all fine.

This is why I like the 50 yrd zero. It's very effective for torso targets from point blank to 200+ without any major adjustment in POA. Even those using 100yrd zero will notice the drastic drop off after 175 yards. With 50 yrd zero you are never more than -2 to +2 in comparison to being -8 from POA/POI at 200. At 300+ its really noticeable.
