Need a couple of volunteers for the food list

My eyes are going blurry. I'm working on the new food list with over 8,400 rows. Too much to be scrolling up and down looking for what you just ate. So I have dropped in a new column for "general food type". This is a special filter, and you pull down the list and see the basic type of what you are looking for. For example, there are "cakes/breads" or "snacks/candies". That sort of thing. By selecting the general food type, it greatly reduces the foods one has to browse through. And therefore, save some time (hopefully)

The trick is to get the "general food types" right. Sounds easy enough, but then you start going into these weird things, like processed yeast spread, which is primarily protein. So how to fit it in?

The other thing, is you don't want too many categories in the general food type which will also make searching cumbersome. So this will be a balancing act.

What I need some help with, since I'm sitting here after the Nth hour, getting antsy, is someone to go through and make sure the sub categories make sense.

The pasta category really could use some help. There are a few that are over used. And some of the indigenous food items could be wrong. Once you open up the list, you'll see what I mean.

Anyways, I'm really late to the gym because of this silly thing.

If you would like to double check me, or make a recommendation for a new "general food type", PM me and I will examine/review where I'm at right at the moment.

This is a lot of work!

    Thanks in advance

this is the complete USDA food list.

what you suggest is a query. you input a food, and it outputs a single data point for that one particular food.

you want to be looking up shit all the time?
    .
or do you want it all laid out in front of you, and all you do is have to punch in a few numbers, and get results that look like this?

all you do is go to the meal tab, input the quantity of what you eat, and everything else self calculates

this is an example of the input sheet

Not sure where the Masters part came in, I did the bare minimum in College to get through. But I do love Excel but it seems Admin has got your back
