    Bike mods ? Cheap

I have an old bike older 2001 picked up cheap a few weeks ago Honda shadow
Runs great sounds good just quiet. I don't wanna throw money at this bike. Has any one ever removed the baffles. Should deepen the sound with out rejetting or losing horse power.
    Any thought

Removing the baffles will make it louder, and shouldn't require rejetting

removing the baffles will make it louder. it will also reduce back pressure on the low end, and you could lose some low end torque. Additionally, it will improve volumetric efficiency (more air throughput), but without rejetting (fuel injected right?) or increasing fuel flow, your bike will lean out and you will see it in the plugs. Ashen gray, not ideal, as it means the engine is burning hotter. This is a water cooled engine, if memory serves me, so overheating the #2 cylinder won't be as much an issue as it would be on a Harley.

On the other end, the bike has little value, so if it were me and I wanted to remove the baffles (you know, you could take out the baffles and replace the "muffler" with steel wool, still improving the rumble but not sounding too obvious that all you did was remove the baffles) I'd just go ahead and do it.

    Fun times

    Both baffles pulled.
Monster baffles snugged back in place to save a bit o back pressure.
    **** it's hot out.
Throaty sounding bike mix between a Harley and a boat.
    Sounds nice and mean.
I was measuring for a possible bob job.
Wife said no ill ride it.
    WHAA.....
