Sperm Donor Must Pay Child Support

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - A court in Sweden has ruled that a man who donated sperm for artificial insemination, enabling a lesbian couple to have three children, must pay child support after the two women separated, a Swedish newspaper reported on Sunday.

The regional daily Nerikes Allehanda said on its Internet Web site a county court ruled that the man was undoubtedly the children's biological father and hence obliged to pay child support of $265 per month after the women's 10-year relationship broke up.

The verdict poses a legal dilemma, however, because under Swedish law a sperm donor is not regarded as the legal parent of children conceived with the help of his semen.

Sperm donors, however, are normally strictly anonymous, while in this case the man was a friend of the couple and his identity as the father is in no doubt.

The man has appealed.

If I was that guy...two words...FUCK THAT!!!

Not only is this an injustice on his behalf, but this kind of ruling sets the arguement for same sex marriages back as well. The courts should be seeking child support from the parent who no longer has custody. It should be handled just like any other marriage or common law relationship. This statute is saying that the relationship between these two women never existed (as far as the law is concerned) and therefore there is no law binding them to take care of the child.

I was on the subway on my way back from writting a [email protected] exam that i probably failed cause they made it so [email protected] hard cause the class avg was too high. American law and court system is so fucked up that you could fuck up for almost anything. If you don't believe me ask some of the guys on the board. Our law and court system could fuck you over for anything. One day someone will end up in the court for having sex in their own car.
Honestly guys what do you think about that. The US system is made for people to make money off of it and rip off others.
