California Drivers License
So my license is suspended in Oregon because of too many speeding tickets, not having a front plate, and window tint too dark. Paid all the tickets off but still have to wait a year because of the amount of tickets. Question is since California gives out driver licenses to illegals why couldn't I go down to California and apply for a brand new license and say I am from Canada or something and say I don't have a social security. Would this work? I hate bumming rides all the time and this is something I would consider doing.

Get a bicycle. It's good cardio. lol
I think you would have to prove you are from Canada unless you go tanning everyday for a couple of weeks, dye your hair black and speak a little broken English.

You have to reside in CA to get a CADL.

lol what? Speed limits suck in most cases, I agree. But you have to limit speeds in order to minimize accidents. Most people can't handle a car at high speeds, but think they do.
A dedicated no limit (isolated) lanes would be cool. Then it would be ones choice to use it. But yeah, limits can be raised a bit in most areas.~ PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR SOURCE CHECKS ~

You don't need to limit speeds to limit accidents. The German autobahn is proof of that where you can actually get ticketed for going too slow in the wrong lane AND they have much less accidents than we do even after accounting for the population discrepancy.
Most ppl thinking they can drive at high speeds and not being able to isn't really relevant. Each driver should drive at a speed within his or her abilities. It's not up to big brother to tell me how fast I can drive when I also am forced to have insurance on my vehicle. Let's not even get Into the fact that needing a license to drive is another tactic to 'tax' citizens.

Forcing insurance makes sense. 99% of people couldn't afford to fix someone else's car after an accident.. especially if they have to fix their own as well.
Speed limits aren't there to protect you. They're there to protect the other people on the road FROM you. I am a speed freak, been over 200mph on a public highway (motorcycle, yes verified) but should I be allowed to? hell no, it's stupid.

In reply to the op.. suck it up. Regardless of how crappy the laws are, you knew they were laws. You screwed up. Live with it (for the next 5 years, cause your insurance rates are going to SUCK)

Last I checked NH didn't require insurance to drive. Maybe it changed recently but not as far as I know. Some states also allow you to show Finacial responsibility to pay for accidents instead of requiring insurance. You can actually get a bond in some cases instead of insurance

Im not for laws legislating things such as morality etc - its bullshit or is it, ie: pedophiles.
Im not for being told how fast I can drive, or am I ? ie: The idiot that things he can drive safely at 120 when its raining out that isnt only going to kill himself but kill others.
Look overall I think many laws are bulshit, I think speed limits are too low on certain roads, but the fact is its not just your life you are playing with man. Germany isnt America, society & culture may play in and dictate the necessity of certain laws as well. I dont care. I see how idiots drive now, I can only imagine how it would be if there were no speed limits. In fact, maybe it would be exactly the same but I personally like the idea of the people driving way too damn fast consistently losing the privilege to drive. Its not just their lives they are playing with. Its easy to say all this fgood shit like we should be able to drive as fast as we want blah blah blah. You drive around with a 3 and 7 year old in your car and tell me how you feel about the ****wit going 100 that cuts you off.

How many tickets did you have? You need to learn to work the system so those tickets do not go on your record.I have had up to 7 speeding tickets in one year and not a one of them show on my record.

Only back from Germany last week and well driving at high speed over there is an experience as a lot of the time you are speeding up and slowing down due to people pulling out on top of you of not spotting you fast enough when you come up behind them at speed.
So you never really get up to a really high speed at night you can do a nice bit of high speed cruising though with the lighter traffic but sometimes the fuel vs speed gained can be canceled out

I've driven Around with a 6yo in my car, a 4yo, and a newborn and been cut off plenty of times. The thing is I've been cut off by both fast AND slow drivers. Usually it's the slow driver I'm more worried about ie grandma who's not wearing her glasses, who forgot to take her medication, who blindly changes lanes at 50mpg on the interstate, etc.

Most states are interlinked now by computer system.
Back in the day I have jumped multiple states in order to acquire DL's such as Nevada, Colorado, Washington and Ohio.
I would just take a state ID and say I did not have a license anywhere else and they would issue a DL.
They are much smarter now and they will know instantly upon you giving them your name that your license is suspended in Oregon and turn you away empty handed.
Especially in Cali they do a NCIC when you apply for DL.
The license comes from Sacramento not the local DMV and usually takes 4-6 weeks to receive once you have been verified as legit.

so In Austin for example, where there are turns, exits, entrances and Tons of oncomings from over and underpasses... No limit would be ok? Lol. That's instant death daily for many. Autobahn is a straight shot bro. Not like in the city.
Also, the autobahn in the only highway without limits. There are limits in
The city~ PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR SOURCE CHECKS ~

I don't have my own kids Jimmy. The kids I mentioned were my ex's and my cousins' kids. I don't want to get hit period if I have any kids in the car. The point of my post was that I've been cut off and almost been hit many more times by ppl going the speed limit or slightly more than by someone far exceeding it.

The limit would be self imposed by the driver. Let's be realistic here, how many ppl do you honestly beleive will do 100mph around a hairpin turn? Hell I drive like speed racer himself and even I know I have limit is no matter how fast I'd like to take the turn.
I basically live in the mountains so my whole town has tight turns, narrow roads, hills, etc. My point is I know I can handle a certain road at 60. Big brother shouldn't be telling me I have to go 40 or else I get ticketed. If my neighbor can't handle the road at 60 the solution is simple. He can decide to drive slower. You make it seem like everybody and their mother would all of a sudden decide to triple the 'speed limit' when that's not the case. The vast majority of ppl drive whatever speed they feel comfortable at REGARDLESS of the posted speed limit.

Yea just come up here where 55 means 85 and cops hardly ever pull anyone unless your reckless driving. Even the HP are running over 70 everywhere they go. There are places in the US where there are high speed limits, Texas, Wyoming and a few others. There are also roads with no speed limit. I don't know how the accident rates in these places are. But we do need speed limits. Let's also remember that in Germany the roads are well built, which is not the case in the US.

My girlfriend lives in Brooklyn, NY and We spend a lot of time In NYC so I drive to NYC every week basically. I've also driven in Philly, Boston, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Paris, And Beirut among other large cities. I still think it's a good idea. The speed limit in NYC is 30mph unless otherwise posted. Mayor Bill de Blasio wants to lower it to 25mph. You mean to tell me 25mph is going to make it safer to drive there than it is at 30mph? Really?

where i grew up, you had to watch the speed of your boat! if going to fast, you could send a wave heading into someone's front porch! people have slang bullets at people going to fast!
