    Going to jail

Just what the title says. Had to take a plea deal for 10 days in jail. Couldn't break up the days in the weekends or just nights, nor go around my work schedule (which will effect it). It is what it is. Had to do with crap a couple years back in helping get these minors getting in front of the right person who produced fake IDs. They of course got caught and snitched on me. Question is directed towards who been to jail, and wanting to know how it is like in there. My county has been through budget costs in relation to the rising costs of running the jail, and had to close around 30-40 beds recently. I am hoping to get my time cut off early based on good behavior and be able to go home.

Bring a pocketful of cash so you can get that put on your books when you're processed in and then you can buy commissary. The food was the worst part of the whole stay. Be respectful and mind your own damn business. This goes for your interactions with inmates as well as guards. You will likely find that most people in jail are relatively friendly and easy to get along with. It's not Shawshank, it's just jail.

Whether your sentence might be cut short can depend on the language the judge used. Expect to be there for 10x 24hrs unless you know otherwise.

Not sure about where you are, but my county is 23 hour lock down, barely enough food to subdue the hunger at meal times. I only had to do 2 days but dropped 5lbs that weekend. Mostly water from dehydration though, as the water from the sink in the cell had a brown tint to it, and the only access to reasonably clean water came with the 1 hour out of the cell.

Got a younger brother that's had a couple stays in a small town county jail, and they dealt with 24 hour lock down, more inmates than beds available, and their only fresh water option were the 3 8oz glasses of kool-aid per day at meal times. This last vacation was a little over 2 weeks and left him with a case of scabies, and a raging sinus infection so bad he was running a high fever when got out a saw a doctor.

Thank you. The whole thing is unfortunate. I see it as something that is total bullshit but as kind of bad karma for previous offenses I got away with in college that I should have gotten caught.

4am breakfast, 11am lunch, 4pm dinner. Not fun. Hopefully it's not as bad as the ones in Southern California that I was at for a week in my college days. They isolate you based on race. And you stick with your race. No jokes in there. I did a lot if reading and socializing.

Having worked at a nurse in a very large jail I was going to say its not that big of a deal. Food sucks. Glad your done with it. From what I have learned from the inmates is that prison is better than jail. Better food, guards, etc. I was going to say they normally do a 2 day credit for 1 day in jail. Its 3 for 1 if your a trustee.

So what did you have to do a little time for?

I did a 2 hour stint in county when I was 17. It was rough and changed me for life.
